The dial plots are certainly the colour of "aged lume" but not too dark. I agree the hands should match, but overall, I think it's a nice looking watch.

not looking consistent....imagine that watch in 20 yrs - one would think that hands had been replaced unless proper background knowledge. Seiko has been cutting corners here. Shame - i like it though

I like mine but as I already have 2 turtles and I just wear my IWC 95% of the time anyway,I will probably move it on some time soon.

Lovely looking watch, Andy, and so much nicer - to my eyes - than the fugly Nautilus you just sold :-)

Picked up my Black Turtle today - very happy with it. Didn't think i would get on with the vented strap, as the pictures of old that I've seen seem to make them look to wide. I find this to be very comfortable, and looks good as well.

Pictured below in extreme stealth mode!

Mine got returned. It just felt a little flimsy.

Nor would I. In fact I’m surprised how well put together it feels in comparison to the Padi turtle I previously owned. This includes the crown action, which feels solid and smooth.

Sorry but I took about 5 seconds to decide to return this. Just didnt feel it but that's just me.

Is it a crafter blue you have it on? If so, does the original black hardware fit it, or do you have to leave the SS ones on?

I have done a few pictures of the Lume on mine as someone asked the same thing.

Yep crafter blue. The hardware fits but as the seiko buckle is a bit flimsy I put the ss buckle back on, even having the black keeper makes a difference

    Happy with mine too.
Very nearly bought the grey sunburst dial Turtle yesterday after seeing it in the Seiko shop, really nice.

The black turtle looks great! I wasn't sure when I first saw them but they've really grown on me.

  22. #172
Quite interested in one of these myself. The main reason I didn't jump all over it was that I wasn't sure a turtle would suit my wrist, but I've recently picked up an SRP773 and really love it so am definitely keen on the black one now.

    Easy :-)

Took the cyclops off my SNE441. Just heat the cyclops with a lighter until the glue softens and you can and pry it off with a razor/knife. Then clean the glue off with goof-off.

Good stuff. Thanks for letting me know!

  28. #178
I think I'll need to try one of these, already a fan of the standard turtles but the lume mismatch put me off these black ones initially.

One thing I've not been able to tell 100% from the pics is whether we've got a few different finishes and shades of black on different parts of the watch? Looks like the case might be a sort of matte satin black where as the bezel and crown are more of a shinier or glossier black?

  29. #179
^^^ I don't have mine with me, but bezel insert is certainly gloss vs the rest of the case being matte

Case sides are a shiny black, i guess from polished SS underneath. Top of case is a matt black. Bezel shiny black, with the insert being less shiny with matt grey on 12-20 markers.

I really like the effect, gives it a layered look.

With some direct sunlight you can see some of the solar panel within the black dial

As you would expect from Seiko, a little bit of bright light and the lume pops beautifully

It is quite a hard coating. My pal has a black Seiko as his work watch and it looks pretty cool with the amount of wear it has had over many years.

If it's anything like the previous Seiko finishes of this kind you'd have to try hard to get rid of the coating. My old 4 year old BFK still looked amazing when I sold it, whereas my other two BFK's which weren't coated looked a bit tired.

  45. #195
Thought I'd share these, not of the watch which is a mod so not the subject of this thread but the strap which was delivered this week. If you like a NATO with a stripe then this works vey well on a black diver. Stripe is quite understated. These are the darker fittings too.
