    GS spring drive winding noise

My snowflake has developed this harsh sound when winding that wasn't there the first time .

I've seen a video review of this model online which also had a similar sound . To me it sounds harsh and certainly not a pleasure to wind , almost like changing gear without engaging the clutch .

Im sure there are lots of other owners of this model here so I would interested to hear your experiences .

    Thanks

My SD MM makes a harsh noise from the first day. Nothing to do with a mechanic watch. It sounds more like grinding. But apart from the sound it is a very smooth process. I wear the watch for sleeping, that means that I wind the watch very frequently and I am not surprised by the sound.

Same here... My spring drive also winds with a grating noise - very unlike the smooth and quieter winding of Rolex. Pretty sure that's how they are but would like to know why if anyone can share..

My Snowflake has a 'positive winding' sound. I wouldn't call it a grinding sound but there's more noise from it than anything else in the box.

Typical of Spring Drives. The rotors tend to be very noisy too. I owned 5 SD watches for reference.

    GS spring drive winding noise

I also have a snowflake and yes it has a a v diff winding feel and sound to an automatic. It’s more high pitched, almost like applying tension to a wind up toy. Having watched a load of videos before purchasing and trying it out a few times in store though, I knew it was to be expected. I’ve heard it described as similar to the noise of an F1 racing car..

Same for my spring drive diver. Never bothered me (until now!😀)
