    Blue brogues

There is a nice pair of blue brogues in Russell and Bromley but they are a steep £450. Just saw a lovely pair in Barker for £250 so a much better price point. Any other recommendations. Sorry no pics, will see if I can find some.

    Edit, found pics of Barker

I’ve got those Barkers in dark red, the blue is a bit too much for me!

Register on A Farleigh Country and you will get a voucher code / barker sale email at some point - I paid £125 for mine.

I would not be brave enough to wear those so can't comment.

Ooh, that’s a bit adventurous! Although the nice shoe man in Ilkley is resoling a pair of Barkers and some Sanders boots for me with blue Dainite.

If you wear those you'll certainly turn a few heads.

To the OP, I’m assuming that the blue isn’t going to be a regular wear colour? As such you might want to try Undandy, who will custom-make something for you for around £150. They fit quite thin leather soles which are Blake-stitched so won’t be as robust or long lasting as welted shoes, but their life can obviously be extended with glued-on Vibram rubber protectors. Obviously less of an issue if you’ll only be wearing them occasionally. I bought a pair of boots from them which I like, obviously not comparable to English shoes but on the plus side they are as comfortable as slippers from new and the online design-it-yourself process is addictive.

If you were colour blind and wore those you'd wonder why everyone was pointing and laughing at you as you stroll along.

Each to their own, and it’s all a matter of choice in the end, if you can pull them off then they should be stunning.

These are mine. Prefer a slightly wider last to this style & still breaking them in, taking a while as they aren’t regular wearers for obvious reasons.

Cheers for the banter guys. I look younger than I am :-)

I already have barker, bally and loake in conventional colours so these are something a bit different.

The Russell and Bromley ones are darker (almost black) and become lighter at the tip. More subtle. Can't find a picture of the lace-ups.

And just to keep the mirth flowing check these out:

I quite like the blue ones in the original post.

Completely different end of the price scale - Clarkes do a blue (darker blue than the one in the pic) which are nice. I think Ted Baker do them as well.

    Is this what millennial/hipsters wear?

I wear blue brogues quite regularly - unless they are really bright colours, you'd be surprised how few people notice.

It's interesting - at a recent conference - I talked to a number of people who came over and said "Sorry I don't know your name but I was told that the guy in the purple shoes could help me with X" - resulted in quite a bit of well-paid work...

I notice that women are likely to also come over and make conversation based on the shoes - I've started wearing them quite a bit...

I wore the white Oxfords with the ruby star inserts (left on pic above) to a recent shareholder meeting.

I was unsure at first as my wife thought they were a bit too racy for such a sombre occasion.

However, I reminded her that following the herd is just not my style.

I’ve got some lovely Trickers Bourton blue shoes (as blue as I’d go) I’d highly recommend. They are £395 on their website bought on their outlet website they are £265 and there was a flash sale recently (highlighted on the shoe thread here) and I paid £195.

Nothing wrong with blue brogues, or any other colour footwear for that matter.

I've a green pair of Trickers bourton brouge and a pair of White Stow boots.

Why bother listening to advice from people who limit themselves to wearing black or brown shoes.. :D

And if you are going to wear black or brown mix them together like my Grenson triple welts.

I prefer the more subtle Trickers blue. I would have bought the green were my feet not so Hobbit like.

Not quite the blue you want but some alternative colourways at pretty good prices. I know they aren't the same league as Barker etc but then nowhere near the same price bracket either. Haven't got any myself yet but hear good things about them. At around £40 to £50 they are not bad. I like the desert boots with blue soles as a bit quirky, Mod - Paul Smith ish ..

I have a pair of these Cheaney Avon Rs, which are a little more restrained (I think they may be NLA though).

Pulled the trigger on these: https://www.goodwinsmith.co.uk/colle...ts/walker-navy

More subtle and similar to the Russell and Bromley Pair in hue - though not as delicate and more sturdy in design. Pics to follow. If I like them I can look at spending more on a top brand, or these may be good enough quality anyway.

    ^That colour looks fine.

Obviously anyone else's opinion is neither here or there though.

To me, the other shoes look like the kind of footwear worn by those whose work colleagues include performing elephants.

Like watches, some people prefer some colour and some don't. Myers Briggs and Benziger indicate I'm Extrovert. I work for a start-up with many hipsters (count the beards) so you should see the clobber the youngsters wear. Jack Wills anyone?

I'll see if these tick the boxes for me for now (and they are better for winter). I'll be keeping track on the price of the Barker's and Russell & Bromley's
