Cooking, can anyone please recommend a good meat thermometer

    Hi,

I have been inspred by the latest series of Masterchef to try and improve my very basic cooking skills.

So, can anybody here please give me a recommendation on a reall good digital meat thermometer that I can buy to try and get my cooking temperatures just right

    Thanks

I've been using a Heston one, with two probes, which is useful. Similar price.

But the thing that really made a difference was having an oven whose temperature setting I could trust.

Might be worth spending a few more quid on an oven thermometer, just to check that it's operating at the temperature you expect...

I use one of these which is very fast and accurate https://www.souschef.co.uk/superfast...ermometer.html

They weren't that much when I bought mine though!

    Cheers,

I use a Sainsbury's own brand. Checked it against an oil bath years ago and no complaints from me.

If you are going to use it a lot: Thermapen.
    They are brilliant.

If you just want to make sure you don't give the relatives the squits with the xmas turkey: Just buy a cheapo version.

Agreed, they're all accurate enough. More variation in how its used (where stuck etc) than the reading itself.
