    Land Rover Watch

    My Father-in-law, who has never previously expressed any interest in Watches, appeared with this today ;

    No markings apart from ;
    Land Rover
    N325.00 LR
    Stainless Steel.

Quartz movement, screw down crown and has a nice bit of weight to it.

Anyone seen One before and what's it worth ?

Lots of car makers do this from time to time.

It's not, as far as I can tell, an official Landrover item. It's listed as out of stock on Amazon. It looks way better than most of the unofficial Land Rover watches though.

Land Rover have had tie ups with Zenith and Breitling in the past. This watch is clearly made by neither of those companies.

    This looks a bit “Evoque”.

Who did the Jaguar watches for JLR? Was it Jaeger?

Whizz the screw back off, you'll soon see if it's worth anything. I am guessing not. There is a guy who fetches up at the NEC Classic Car Show each year with a stall load of these in a small range of marque names. About £90 a pop iirc.

A nice dial and case screams out for a replacement movement of good quality.

£5 offer dutifully made based on the valuation he requested :) would it be wrong to point out to ebay that it's a fake? :p

I might go in with a punt of £6 and cause a bidding war - might even go as high as £7.

    Let’s hope it’s more reliable.

We bought a brand new Evoque and after on average a recall and fault a month, we traded it in.
Faults with the sat nav, Bluetooth, brakes, engine management lights and other electrical gremlins, plus diluting oil requiring an early service.

I’d even avoid the Watch lol

Ah that’s right - I had a blank there. The e-type one did look good in the channel four documentary about the car a couple of years back...

I’d buy this as a present for a friend who’s a big Land Rover fan but hasn’t got much spare cash.

Before giving him it I’d check the health of whatever movement is in it and possible it if it’s a cheap one
( they usually are). It would also need to fit a large wrist, the guy’s built like a bear.

God loves a trier, the ebay ad is optimistic to say the least. My offer will be better than £5 but not by much.

The ebay seller’s quite close to me in West Yorks, I guess that exonerates the OP....or does it? The photos are the same!

    Thanks for all the comments.
I have indeed listed it elsewhere for sale, as I don't own it personally it falls outside of Sales Corner guidelines.

My Father in law struggles with mobility but you will never hear him moan or complain.
Since he's retired he's befriended a Donkey that lives down the field, over the road from his house.
Every day he hobbles down the lane and goes to see his mate. The Donkey's got used to seeing him and brays excitedly when it spots him making his slow way across, I think it may be as much to do with the Apples and Carrots he then produces out of his old shabby overcoat, but you can't deny they have become firm friends.
Unfortunately 'Derek', as he has become known, is due a move and to continue the friendship will mean a 10 miles bus journey for Pop.
He's a proud man and would never ask for or accept financial assistance and I'm sure the announcement about selling his treasured Watch is linked to his wish to continue visiting the Donkey.
The donkey is also missing a leg and has been stung by jibes of 'Wonky' and 'Reliant' but his friend Pop has a plan involving a Roller-skate and an old Broom Handle.
Unfortunately I have told him that an odd Roller-skate and a Broom Head won't really have much value, so these costs will also have to come out of his Watch sale.
There's not going to be a lot left for the bus, so it's a good job that he grows the Carrots and Apples himself.
On the plus side this time of year is a good time for a Donkey to make a bit extra moonlighting in Nativity and if he can get him on the bus they might even get to have a pint or Two afterwards, depending on the whip round. There might even be enough for some tinsel to tassle on his tail.
A Xmas tale that would surely make.

    Merry Xmas.

Am I the only one to think this looks a bit like a Dreadnought Voyager (case and bracelet)?
