    Vintage Zenith

    Hi folks

Was looking for some info on this vintage zenith watch. I think its from mid 60s but having scouted the net I can't find much.

It's making a nice "new" addition to my collection all the same.

You'll get better results yourself If you can get the caseback open, but i'm sure some star affectionado will tell you all about just based on this image alone.

The pics are not very good.

The crown is either damaged or just not genuine. Or damaged and genuine, I guess...

The dial might be redialed. Can't tell due to the bad photos. Period should be mid to late 60s I think.

    Crown is damaged

    Watch works fine though.

What sort of pics would help? 🙄

Please define the term ’redialled’.......it’s a term I hate to see used because it is so ambiguous.

    There are replacement dials.

    There are refinished dials.

    There are cleaned dials.

    So what is a ‘redial’?

Looking at this watch I suspect the dial is original. It’s a typical old watch with a lot of wear and tear on the case, some deterioration of the hands, and a dial that’s aged but still looks very presentable. The movement will almost certainly benefit from being serviced ( most old watches haven’t been serviced for a long time) and the case would look a whole lot sharper after a dose of careful refinishing. The hands will probably clean up, hard to say from the pics.

Am I volunteering to get involved?.......... no way, just pointing out a sensible way forward to improve this watch should the owner wish to do so.
