    NOS ??? can it be

Browsing the web in a slack moment, looking for a birth year watch and came across this Sub.
    https://www.chrono24.co.uk/rolex/sub...-id7408840.htm
Having had a recase after an accident, can this be considered NOS?? It is out of my price range but there surely cant be a better example anywhere. What do you guys think, at £57k is it value?? but he does state in the write up that he has been offered $27k and refused so offer more and work something out.
Could this maybe be an addition to a pension fund.

Of course it isn't NOS, it's not even original!

It's certainly not New Old Stock. The original owner wore it for diving and binned the box and papers, then it was damaged in a car accident and repaired, then serviced in the 90's –*what's new about that?

If you want to spend 57k as an investment then buy a couple of garages. That is all. The first bit of advice is free, becuase today i am in a good mood.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

Replacement case kills much of the value and the price seems incredible to me. Such a watch can often be viewed as little more than the value of the sum of its parts.

I am alarmed by the thought of anyone other than an experienced collector / dealer considering any vintage Rolex as part of their financial planning.

    Keep walking!

Thanks for the advice, I did wonder where the value might be.

What would be the value of the parts separately?

How much value would you attach to some of the parts having had the same origin?

How short of the asking price are you?

one of the worst claims for NOS i've seen. movement, dial, hands are all used and serviced, and it has an un-original case. Closer to a franken than NOS for me.

Perhaps the seller, rather ambiguously, is referring to the gold gilt dial as New Old Stock? Personally, I find older Rolex prices obscene anyway and wonder if this is even 'worth' the $27,000 that the seller claims (!) to have been offered repeatedly.
