Went to Trattoria Dell'Arte at 900 7th Avenue for lunch back in July and have to say it was great, my missus, son and myself all really liked what we had, from memory i had chicken pepperoni parmigiana and it was outstanding!!!
Any ideas on a really good Italian in NYC. We are staying mid-town, but getting really annoyed with the completely inconsistent reviews.
I do find that reviews in the US have a lot of 1 Star..... it was raining..... I never liked lobster but ordered it and still don’t like it.... wanted Indian and they only served Italian...... they had accents.......

We had a similar issue with inconsistent reviews - in the end we went to Patsy’s which was pretty good! We went last November.
Grab some friends and head to carmines, you won’t be disappointed!

We ate here as part of an excellent food tour. Food was yum:

Don Angie is the current Italian hot spot, in fact its on the Eater top 10 "heat map" right now.

The classic choices are Rao's (impossible to book) and Babbo (solves the reservation problem by charging 4x as much), or Chef Batali's entry-level restaurant the ultra crowded Otto, but I like nearby Barbuto so much better.

Carmine's is a good choice if you want to stay in Midtown.
Been here a couple of times, good food and nice ambiance

Thanks for the suggestions guys,
We are having a last min trip over next weekend, so limited in availability, but a couple of those look like they could accommodate us.
So far booked an evening at Smoke Jazz Club, Sea Grill at the Rockefeller on the second. Not wanting Michelin, but higher end with a bit of atmosphere, if that makes sense.
Any left field suggestions of things to do while over there also welcome. We are planning some of the usual, but with 4 days, happy to think of something other than the Empire State :-)

If I were going I would try to get tickets to see the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden on 15th at 7pm. I am a massive Rangers fan though.
Met Fridays, Friday nights at he Metropolitan Museum of Art https://www.metmuseum.org/events/programs/met-fridays
If you want to go skating on the ice rink at Rockefeller Center, many reservations sell out a week or so in advance. https://therinkatrockcenter.com/
Food wise, I think you'd get the best bit of quintessential NY at Lombardi's. Opened in 1905, it was the first pizzeria in the US, and there's nothing quite like a NY slice.
And a super cool wine bar, to wind up or wind down an evening, La Compagnie des Vins Surnaturels. https://www.nytimes.com/2014/07/03/f...in-nolita.html
We found this by accident Jon - enjoyed the food and the experience.

When you look long into an abyss, the abyss looks long into you.........
The High Line. Essential if you haven’t done it before. Fantastic change in perspective of the city.

Am fortunate enough to have got a 'free' hotel from points accumulated with work.
Sent off a couple of emails for reservations, and looking forward to the trip. Couldn't get Premium Economy seats, so in Virgin cattle, albeit extra leg room.
