New Daytona - designed by Spike Lee

    https://www.ablogtowatch.com/les-art...tch-spike-lee/

The cool hand Brooklyn. Cool and fresh or sacrilege?

For me, it looks a bit Omegaesque which isn't what I'd be looking for

I would say an improvement, but I am not a fan of the Daytona, it kind of makes it look like a limited edition Speedmaster!

Awful but then I'd not expect a lot more given the association.

    I expected something else!!!

It’s just an old model Daytona that’s been customized, it’s not the best nor the worst one out there!

I saw this the other day but thought it was a joke! It’s real?! Wow that’s a miss right there. They’ve gone so far, it doesn’t even resemble a Daytona anymore

I really like that, just a shame the Daytona is too small imo, but very nice indeed. Have to agree that it is straying into Omega looks territory, but why not some limited editions, although the chances of getting one would be zero or less.

    I really like that.
Come the big lottery win it would be the third Daytona I'd buy. I'd get it right after I'd bought a classy/classic old one and a white/steel/ceramic one but I'd definitely welcome it in my hypothetical post-lottery collection.
I like the fact that there's something unDaytona about it.

I like the colour scheme, but it just doesn't look like a Daytona. As others have said, more akin to a speedie.

I echo the comments about it looking like an Omega.

I don't like it,spoils what to me is an iconic look.

The First thought I had was it was like putting t**s on a bull.

It's a free world and we are all allowed to buy and sell what we want at whatever price we want. Therefore let it be marketed without the usual faux horror beloved by some.

It's ok but if I buy it and resell it a few months later will I see my money back because I will on a standard Ceramic Daytona or the older model.

Too many colours and the price is a joke. Also what about servicing, Rolex won't touch it and the company producing it can go bust anytime. This is the kind of watch which will be bought by people with more money than brain and will suffer extreme depreciation in the future.

Spike Lee should stick to making films and keep his beak out of watch design.

It is a lot of colour but looks ok on the bracelet. Not something I would buy. I think it will age very badly.

I'd lose the coloured buttons, then I'd rather like it.

Exactly what I was going to say.

Also, those red hands look like the poorly-finished heat shrink you get on cheap electrical components. Wonky and bulbous.

I wonder if the Beckham Jnr will be allowed one? 😀

Whilst the Newman Daytona gained iconic status because of his name I think 99% of tie ins like this put most folk (non football, rapper types) off.

"A deep navy blue, the color is used on the bakelite bezel"

Can't imagine that bezel insert will last very long.

I wouldn’t say I’m mad on the colours, (although I don’t hate them), but I love the design of it. The piston pushers, the dial indices, everything.
    Lovely looking thing.

A little different, yes Omega used the colours first but it doesn’t look like any Omega. Always welcome a fresh approach to watches and it will be interesting to see what direction Basel takes us. Watch this space

Not for me personally, much prefer my 116520. And i’ll prefer a white dial ceramic even more when I get one.

Red and Black are my first choice for colours.
In fact, I've just bought a Davosa Trailmaster watch in this very combination.

In this case though, well: it's just a bit much, isn't it?
    Somewhat OTT.

No temptation to swap from my steel with white face at all.

Agreed. With plain pushers I think this would look lovely.
I do like the fact that they are not screwdown pushers, a defunct technology given the WR, totally unnecessary.
And the "it looks more like a Speedie" comments are a good thing, as far as I am concerned.
The coloured insert tachy bezel has made the Daytona look so much nicer.
    Well done Spike.

I like it on the bracelet.

It doesn’t really matter though as I am not really it’s target market.

If they lost the orange hands for silver and it had silver pushers it'd be quite nice.

One thing though, it's a Daytona better than most in that you can actually read the time easily.

I really like that. Given me the idea to take my explorer to bamford and see how much it would be to fit it with a sapphire open back

Given the changes he had made to his limited edition Casio G-Shock, I was expecting something rather like this:

For my tastes, he's long been a spent force in film directing, too. I'm surprised he was able to justify involving himself with such a symbol of exploitation as Rolex, though ...

How do you figure that, given that they’re one of the very few companies in the industry that doesn’t use cheap outsourced labour?
