Maybe, maybe not. Equity prices are at all time highs too. Could all be a bubble, but some watches do better than shares and many people who buy high end watches are fairly financially literate also and it doesnt take a genius to figure out that buy a Sub may be a better bet!

You're still parking a lot of money in a bubble and hoping it won't burst. Sometimes that works out, but obviously there are no guarantees.

Are the prices going to go down? if the next generation or two choose not wear a mechanical watch maybe but some of the watches mentioned have achieved a cult status highlighted by the sale of the Newman Daytona. So buyers may always want to own a Sub/Daytona/Speedmaster. Quite how high prices will go remains to be seen - I won't be speculating as I havent got the money.

Expect another one to list shortly, looking over at TRF someone tried to sell one that was just a few months old for £9,000.

He obviously got no takes at that inflated price so is now selling it to watchfinder for £7.5k unless someone is willing to pay more then them.

New? Are you talking about an LV-C rather than an LV?

Doh! I'm sure there was a similar thread on the LV recently. Anyway, I am happy to sell my LV-C for 9K, enquiries via PM

Just seen that. Blimey!!! Talk about a chancer. I bet he’s not happy that it’s sitting next one listed at nearly half that.

Made me look twice at the £5750 one then spotted the £11k one .... Makes the mark up some of the not new but stickered up Rolex fairly palatable .... Ish

I appreciate that these are not the original Sub LV

But below are a couple of LVc's recently advertised on TRF, including the one that was previously mentioned.

    The world has gone mad.

It was not that long ago that every time i asked an AD about a specific model they offered me a LV-C and said they would do a deal on the price.

I saw that 9k on TRF the other day and thought cheeky bleeder.

TRF is filled with stupid guys who have a lot of money, and pro sellers who are happy to bilk them out of it.

It's the gold plated toilet of the internet watch forums.

I told that guy to sell at the dealer's bid price not ask, that is fair to a forum member. Glad to see no takers any higher.

  19. #69
The difference is the LVc has become very hard to get hold of in the US so prices have rapidly increased over there, this has also fuelled rumour of it being discontinued (which I doubt)

When they start appearing in AD's the price will drop

Not when Rolexroz was active - best availability and price.

Anybody know if Rod is still in the game?

I got my SD50 from Rod back in September for £10k.

He had a ceramic Daytona as well so I think he is doing it a bit.

It was advertised on new turfers forum not TRF

I think whole business of Rolex is fairly mental but I like owning them, but having owned a Hulk - it really didn't get much wrist time

I went into watchfinder Canary Wharf this week and was wearing my hulk, the sales assistant commented they were selling them for £9250 and people were buying them! Madness! Seems it’s not just USA they are going mad for them

He also said about them discontinued soon but I tend to agree that’s probably a load of twiddle.

Yes but it's the market. People not buying means no price hikes. I listed a Hulk here for £6k iirc earlier this year

Unless brand new with stickers they won't offer much more than 7K.

I don't get why people don't get market forces. If dealers want to ask premium prices for any hot watch and it sells instantly they are logically going to ask even more for the next one.

We all have a choice, but the price in 2003 is completely irrelevant in today's market place for a long discontinued watch. If that makes today's price crazy then so be it. £250.00 for a Mark 1 DRSD in 1967 doesn't stop it being a £100k+ watch today.

Looks like watchfinder were finding it easy to shift them at £9250.

Most of the time the dial looks black and does appear different shades of green. It’s pretty sweet.
