Can't come any closer to a GS with this one.

Poor man's GS is an understatement, what a beautiful dial.
And Titanium without seeing it as well.

    That is a pretty dial

Unfortunately, I just can't love a watch with sub-seconds markings on a non-chronograph. Very irritating - the dial surface looks lovely.

Very nice. I didn't know Seiko was using sapphire on its range either.

Yes, they do for some time now on their more expensive 6r series.
My Azabu Tailor (now sold) did have the full package as well, Dia-Shield, sapphire and a very good anti glare coating.

Seiko used to always justify using Hardlex as it's less likely to shatter (but gets more scratches), but I always assumed it was due to price and keeping their margins fat. I imagine they've either been able to cut costs or have had to use sapphire in the face of stiffer competition at the lower end.

On the watch itself, I personally have a hard time considering parting with $800+ for a Seiko that isn't a Grand Seiko, but this is a beautiful piece. Not a brand snob, but think the Seiko sweet spot is under $300.

They still use high quality hardlex on their professional divers, Tuna, MM300 etc.
Not because of the costs involved, but because they think it's better suited to a professional divers watch.

My Tuna and Shogun are used for all sorts and still scratch free btw.

But mine is badly scratched and it seems needs to go back to Japan for a new glass...

Can't help but feel that the name Presage is not a good choice.

If only they haven’t put presage on it. And made the crown screwed down.

That ‘Snowflake’ type dial is sweet! I’ve had two 6R15 Seiko’s now and both ran within COSC. Brilliant new model from Seiko.

I damn well regret not buying it when I had the opportunity in Japan a few years ago. This looks rather lovely, something approaching the Snowflake texture yet different in its own right. A winner I think!

Agreed, it may make sense on a dive watch, but A) most people are desk diving, or diving not much deeper than a 10-15 metres, B) almost every other manufacturer has sapphire on their divers, and there doesn't seem to be any issues with those.

This is why Seiko have a branding issue. They try to mimic the GS line but why? The dial is snowflake-esque and even the bracelet and lugs are very GS. Suppose if you want the GS-look this is about the closest I've seen it - and surely a bargain for the price.

It is odd that they do homages of their own watches. I guess that there's something of an internal market within Seiko and some people want to get ahead.

Agree, that's not as hot. The first picture made it look far more appealing.

Love or hate them, I'm around to long to start comparing them to other brands and discuss endlessly :)

Whatever the contents of your wallet, Seiko makes a watch that makes you look like a million dollars in every price range, that's their strength I guess.

Very nice model indeed. Interesting dial specifically, now snowflake but interesting nevertheless. I bought a Sarx033 earlier this year (plain glossy white dial, blued hands) and love it a lot. The amount of detail is amazing in these ranges and enough variants to choose from.

Not a fav personally, but I can see why you like it. Concerning the Presage, I must admit to rather liking this newish model. It's the SSA341J:

I liked it better in the white looking pictures. The dial looks like crumpled aluminum foil in the other picture. At 11mm it seems somewhat thin for an automatic Seiko.

It's difficult to find a good photo or to get an idea of how it might look. Found this though:

Have to say it does look pretty handsome in that pic - the blue seconds hand really stands out vs the Seiya pic. Just missing some lume for me, but it is a dress watch.

I am sorry but with that big Seiko logo on the dial, this would not look out of place for £20.00 in the Argos catalogue...

The cheapest Seiko currently available from Argos is the sks535p1, currently on offer at £79.99, down from £119.99.

A no date version would be nice. Must say the Seiko date window often looks slightly awkward to my eyes.

Its a nice looking watch but does seem to be missing a bit more script on the dial ;)

Liking the power reserve indicator on the other seiko pictured (SSA341J), shame i dont like sub dial dates though.

A photograph is one thing Mark. Handling one of the latest Presage Seiko's may shock you at their price point.

I think the watch looks great and like all Seiko watches it will excellent value for money.

I think the black looks rather nice as well.

I did not say I am not appreciative of some of their efforts, but the huge Seiko logo just makes the whole thing look wrong. The case is actually very nice.

The Seiko logo looks pretty normal to me but we all have our own perceptions I guess.

As a proud owner of the SARB033 I am already a fan of seiko's "midrange" offerings. Nevertheless I am absolutely taken by this watch, its just stunning to my eyes. Although I'm also trying not to pay too much attention to the Grand Seiko in the first video, as I know that will open up a whole new can of itch. An itch that I simply couldn't afford to scratch!

Curious if anyone bought one in here for Some real lief experiences. New presage from Basel 2018 is quite a step up in price making this a bargain in comparison.

I've been lingering with my finger over the "buy button" for a few days now.

I've watched / read every online review I can find and something is still stopping me, but I don't really know what it is... maybe it's that a lot of people who have bought one appear to have flipped very quickly.

Some decent pics of the watch on a leather strap would be nice as I suspect that's how I'd wear it a lot of the time, despite the Diashield coating on the Ti.

Quite possibly. It’s a model that I believe was Japan only (bought it in Ginza 15 years ago) and I always assumed it would have to go back there for ‘treatment’
