If they’re being worn under jumpers etc I’d recommend Zara or H&M at under a tenner a pop, they’re only collecting sweat after all. Throw them after a few months when they start to look a bit worn.
So far this forum has served me well in recommending jeans (Huit) chino's (Docker's Alpha) and shirts (Gitman Vintage). Now it's time for the T-shirt challenge!
I am looking for good quality cotton T-shirts that don't cost a fortune (they will mainly be worn under wooly jumpers).
Someone suggested The White T-shirt Co. but at £35 a pop there must be better value to be had? Thanks in advance.

TK Maxx normally have stacks of them in assorted sizes. I’ve even seen them in the likes of Asda and Tesco.
Lidl 100 %cotton V neck £3.99

I agree, the uniqlo supima are really nice
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
When I'm exercising I wear Under Armour, but otherwise Hanes Beefy or Fruit of the Loom Heavyweight are cheap and good value.
Crivit thermal layers from Lidl, stocked well up on them for £4.99 each as my workshop is like The Arctic
I’ve been debating getting some of these for a while now
they call it a T sweat and today on sale

Try saltrock, currently 2 for a tenner (until midnight). Great quality for the price.
I found the Costco crew neck Ts to be decent quality and inexpensive. They are a bit long in the body though but OK if you're tucking them in.

For around the house or under jumpers I get Gildan Ultra cotton t-shirts, cost about £1.50-3, available in loads of colours, decent quality. I started to buy them after noting that they had made other t-shirts that I have been wearing regularly for about ten years!
Gildan say they are made ethically and they exercise oversight over the whole production process, so hopefully not really made by kids or slaves.
Gap outlet £3.99
Crane base layer stuff from Aldi is superb for the money, you can get a 100% Merino wool base layer T-shirt for £16.99 - the equivalent Icebreaker would be about £40

H&M Premium cotton t-shirts for £12-99 are hard to beat in my opinion. I have only been able to buy them online or from the Regent Street store, but excellent value for money.

The M&S Autograph ones are pretty good. Especially if wearing as part of a layer, great under a jumper or shirt and quite fitted so they keep the warmth in. Think they're about £15. Last a long time too.
Costco or Decathlon (from £1.99p)

Marks and Spencers do a range of thin cotton/lycra T shirts which are designed to be worn as vests. I swear by them, when it gets to wintertime I wear one under a short sleeved shirt and it's amazing how warm they are. The come in black and white, the white ones are ideal under a white shirt to give a bit more warmth on smarter occasions. I started buying these approx. 10 years ago and I`ve worn them ever since. I find a thin layer next to the skin is better for keeping warm than sweaters etc, a couple of thin layers beats a thick one.
These should be available at the large branches of M & S, nit the trendiest place to shop but I`ve reached the age where I don`t care. They're not cheap at around £12 each but they last a long time and stand up to washing OK.
Winter's definitely arrived, time to get the warm clothing out!

Best t shirt find this year is David Gandy at M&S. absolutely fantastic fit and only fifteen quid. Not going to last years and years but at that money you can’t complain

If you are looking to layer for warmth a thermal t-shirt is a great idea. A base layer makes the biggest difference! Thermal t shirts or outdoorsy type ones are made of polyester as they have better wicking properties. If you sweat they breath and dry quicker- cotton stays wet and leads to you getting cold.

Another vote for uniqlo. Their t shirts and base layers are excellent. Their selvedge jeans are great too.
No idea about t shirts but just wanted to say your avatar is superb.

My "go to" brand for nice men's t-shirts is Land's End. Very nice quality, sturdy, good-looking, and can be purchased online in a variety of colors, neck styles, sleeve lengths, and with personalized initials, if so desired. Fair priced, too.
Basic t-shirts from Primark do the job just fine and don't appear to go out of shape when washed.
They are £2 each, and made from the same cotton as your £35 efforts.
I buy a handful every few months and recycle the old ones into a charity bag.
