I've been a member for over 2 years, I was introduced by another member and good friend, I've used the sales corner to try and educate myself to the verity of watches out there and to purchase a few. But recently there has been more than 30% of posts selling non watch items and IMO should be sold on eBay or other sites, or like me give second hand clothes and shoes to charity shops..
Is it just me or is anyone else getting frustrated with this.

No, if they are selling or most of them are then there is demand, and its a lot safer than ebay
Sit in comfy chair and

'Populism, the last refuge of a Tory scoundrel'.
Doesn't bother me, but one option would if people started prefixing non watch posts with, for example, [Non Watch] or [OT].
Major YAWN.
This ain't a pop at the sales corner, just the people selling worn clothes and shoes. I would not dream off selling such items.
Your are Burnsey (albeit in more diplomatic form) and I claim my five pounds.
From Sept. 12th 2003, the very first line in "Guidelines for posting on Sales Corner" . . .
"Sales corner is for the use of forum members to sell or trade any item, it is not solely for trading watches." , written by Mr. Flatts himself . . .

I did not post this thread to cause an argument with anyone, I apologise for the post,

I'm "sort of" in agreement with you. I've nothing against those who have the odd item of clothing or shoes to sell whilst contributing to other areas of the forums but there's definitely a hardcore of p*sstakers who are only here to flog their non watch related tat.
What gets me is when items that clearly have been purchased in sales (never worn or still in packaging) are them sold to try to make a profit. We are supposed to be a watch community. I appreciate people selling their MX5 but not shoes that people know are factory seconds and have only been brought to resell.

“To be a watch community” - damn you autocorrect!

Just read the posts that look interesting. Ignore the rest.
If I see something non Watch related in SC and don’t want to view it I just scroll past it. Has no impact on my life whatsoever.
The watches in SC though, they will probably end up costing me my sanity, my marriage, then my house and probably then, rather ironically, my watches!
Stupid hobby.
I couldn't care if someone offered condoms suitable for an elephant, I don't want them but an elephant owner might and the rest of us can simply ignore it. No harm done and possibly a happy elephant owner. Whats not to like.
Yer yer I understand that but when you get 50 posts per page and the other day 17 that’s 30% were OT, when I first started on the forum the ratio was probably less than 10%.

'the watch forum' has separate sections for watch and non watch related sales
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.
This can be solved VERY EASILY if we had 2 sections: one for watch related items and one for non-watch related items.
Some forums have a sales section not related to the forum's particular interests. This would surely satisfy the objections of those who prefer not to see 'tat' in SC. However there is no need to flame the op for raising the subject.
This should have been +2 if I wasn't so slooowwww

Doesn’t bother me in the slightest but I agree with others that a separate sub-section would be much better for the horological related sales and shouldn’t be that technically difficult to achieve.
"Better"? In what way are they suffering at the moment?
All my sales this year went in minutes, with the one exception which went in minutes of my dropping the price. Price it to sell, and it does - the dirty socks and one-careful-user-only prophylactics make no difference.
Wrong thread

I am amazed that anyone is that bothered to be honest.
If you see an ad for something you do not want just don't view it.
Only part that frustrates me is when someone list an item of clothing that I’m just not in the know about or too old to know about so click it thinking it’s some watch related item or a brand I’ve never heard of!!!!!!!!
The scores of used clothes does make searching for watch related items difficult sometimes but if something sells and it’s on a site where the owner has stated the SC is for anything legal then so be it!!! I do look for watches, cars, knives and even sometimes guns on here but I would be more than happy to just see watch or watch related only!!
Anyway long may SC live!!
Chris
It's quite interesting to see a range of stuff. The relatively low no. of sales posts (compared to other forums) makes the impact of non watch items less.

I enjoy looking at the RRP of some of the clothes. Coats and jackets that had an original RRP of £800 or more etc. I bought a North Face winter coat with the internal fleece from their Liverpool store during a heatwave a few summers back reduced from £350 to £99.
I have had a couple of i-phones from SC, so no grumbles from me. As others have said, if you see something that doesn't interest just move on.
I’m not sure it takes that much effort to scroll past something that doesn’t interest you...
Although some of the stuff people choose to display for sale does raise an eyebrow to say the least!

Rename SC, "The Car Boot" then no one can complain.
Selling personal stuff - fine. But I get the impression that many sales are purely to make a profit. Purchased discount tat and then list on SC. It’s the dilution of the platform that concerns me. As somebody pointed out 10% a few years back. Now it’s 30% tat. Soon it will be hunt the watch in the 90% tat if something isn’t done to “self regulate” SC to what the TZ forum is supposed to be about.

Maybe you have to list one watch to list X personal items?
Although I’m not sure if it’s realistic that someone could police it
Start another Forum for selling Watches called the Sales Counter. SC for short. Then all watch items can be sold in SC and all non watch items can be sold in SC.
Move on, nothing to see here.
Not interested in something, don't click on it, it's not rocket science. Don't like the way the forum is run, leave, it's not rocket science.
