Sad news indeed,
RIP 'likely lad'.
He played Bob Ferris in the Likely Lads, an iconic character in an iconic sitcom. Sad news. RIP Rodney.

Sad news indeed,
RIP 'likely lad'.
"Once is happenstance. Twice is coincidence. The third time it's enemy action."
'Populism, the last refuge of a Tory scoundrel'.
Over the past decade I have seen him quite often at Twyford station catching a main line train from the Henley branch line. Seemed a very pleasant and polite gent.
Another one gone - the personalities that poputlated the landscape of our youth in the 60's are disappearing quickly.
Very sad, and pity him and Bolam didn't sort out their differences.
In the mid 80's (1984ish) he had a place in the village in Cornwall where I was, used to see him in the pub.
Jenny Agutter had aplace close as well but never saw her unfortunately.
Very sad indeed, RIP Bob.
I recently revisited the Likely Lads when they ran a repeat on Gold or somewhere and I hadn't remembered how poignant it could be, it's very funny but a definite hint of melancholy as well, classic stuff.
I queued behind him in Henley Waitrose a couple of times. I was surprised how tiny he was.
A shame to see another favourite go. Along with Bolam, the rest of the cast, and of course Clement and Le Frenais, they portrayed the North beautifully.

Damn it, I spent all day trying to avoid the news of Rodney Bewes.
News of Rodney Bewes dying has reminded me of a nice memory from my childhood.
Back in 1971 the Worlds End adventure playground in Chelsea had use of an old shop, before it was demolished, on Kings road Worlds End, chelsea, to raise funds for the adventure playground.
Think of a modern day charity shop, locals donated "stuff" and the shop sold it.
Anyway, one afternoon there was a Rolls Royce in traffic outside the shop and driving it was Rodney Bewes.
All us kids called out to him and he pulled over and parked up and came into the shop, asked about the playground and said what a great idea.
He then spent a lot of money buying old tat and paying us way over the odds and wished us well.
I remember the takings from the shop helped towards buying the playground a big Transit van.
God bless Rodney. .
Ignorance breeds Fear. Fear breeds Hatred. Hatred breeds Ignorance. Break the chain.
It will be interesting to see if there are any reruns as Bewes always claimed that Bolam had vetoed them.
