I like the side profile, but that bonnet bulge is odd, and the pinched waist to bulging rear arches, which was moderately subtle in the old model now looks crazy.
They are indeed ageing exceptionally well. When you look at the equivalent era Jaguar XK, those really have aged quite poorly in comparison.
For the kids you should just go with the advice I got from my local AM dealer - get a a Rapide "they make for a very practical family car" he said.
Erm, no.... My XC90 is a "very practical family car", the Rapide is only marginally more practical than the DB9! It did make me smile.
Also, I can cope with my 5 and 10 year old kids destroying the interior of the Volvo with everything from crisps, sweets, pulling at things... putting their feet and muddy shoes on things... I'd have to restrain them in the Rapide!

I'm not a fan - it's lost some 'ruggedness' that you expect in an AM. It looks too Japanese now and sort of what the Nissan GTR will probably look like in a few years, or a new Honda NSX.
A friend has driven one. Apparently, it's bloody excellent.
I saw the car in the flesh yesterday, had a good poke around the cabin and witnessed it starting up - for the cynics amongst you I would suggest holding back judgement until you get the same opportunity. Its a huge step forwards for AM, the adoption of the Merc electronics and the way they have been integrated into the cab is very impressive. The cabin quality and seat comfort based on my brief exposure is top drawer. The driveline is pretty much state of the art and if the torque figures turn out to be correct this will be one quick little motor car (smaller externally than a 991)

Italian fund to raise Aston Martin stake:
Italian private equity fund Investindustrial is set to gain a controlling stake in British carmaker Aston Martin by the end of the year and aims to list the company next summer, Il Messaggero newspaper reported on Sunday.
According to wiki, they already own 37.5%.
the front is a bit mx-5-ey and the back a bit marcos-ey but then I didn't reckon the DB11 looked that good until I saw one in the flesh. At least the stupidly perforated bonnet has gone.
I'd not kick it out of the parking space for eating biscuits (to mangle my metaphors) but I can't say it tugs at my heart like some previous astons did / do.
My OH's nephew works there too but don't have much to do with that side of family so not sure of job role...went round factory about 5 years ago & its a wonderful place, our guide painted the casino royale & quantum cars & invented the shade used....another guy i know has engineering firm but has taken someone onto run it as got a job offer from AM he couldn't refuse.... Head Of World Sales for Aston Martin Racing.... think of the places/tracks & cars he will go to & play with...can't blame him
