Painting the watch name on the dial

    Good evening
I am thinking aboute painting the name on the dial , it's just sitting in the wrong place and I offen see it as one of the hands instead of a brand name.
What and how should I do it without destroiding the dial and being abel to bring it back to normal?
    This is the watch/dial

Just sell it and buy a watch that you like. Less hassle. Getting that dial sorted the way you want it is not going to be easy or cheap, with no guarantees that you will even like the watch when it's done.
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

There’s no way you could do it and it be reversible, it would never look right. Best bet is try to find a seller of ‘sterile’ dials for a 7750 of the correct diameter.

    Like this :
    ( I know it’s a day date version )

    As above.

But if it's a keeper and you insist on trying...

Only thing I would suggest is going over the writing to just darken it down, maybe even a black stain that may suck into the white. You'll have to go decent magnification and a miniature detail brush to do it, one slip to the dial and you'll probably be noticing it forever more though.

The fact that you're going darker won't stand out though and it should be achievable.

If it's just a visibility issue then you could try sticking some bright orange hands on it

I was'nt thinking aboute using paint but maybe food colour or soya/ coffe.
It should be removeable again I think.
As it is a ww2 pilot, I can't change the hands

If you're thinking of interventions at the level of food colour /coffee why not just take a marker pen to the dial? I mean, what could possibly go wrong?
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

Seriously mate. Have a little think. We've all done mad things in watchworld but sometimes you just need to step back. Whatever you do to this watch you won't be happy and it will cost you £££ in the process
Good luck everybody. Have a good one.

Well I 'modded' this 009 dial - removed the Automatic' text carefully with some acetone
Out of the case the area is a little shiney but under the glass it's pretty hard to see

Before you use acetone simply try removing the text with a 'chisel tip' wooden peg - a toothpick or cocktail stick with the end shaped like a chisel. On the other hand, if you want it to be reversible I would suggest blocking out the text with a dry transfer, like Letraset. Under the crystal it will be barely noticeable and easily removable. I have 'repaired' the edge of damaged dials this way and, on the edge, it is undetectable.

Then what happens if you get water into the movement. It looked fine in the first place.

Well it was hard for me to read the time so i had to paint it.
A cotton pin with water can remove it again, no problem

You'd be better with a sticker over it.

One printed with subdued Archimede text would work best i think. At least that way all would be square, neat and uniform.

If that can be removed easily, try dry transfer lettering, like Letraset, as I suggested earlier.
If you pick a size with a lowercase L of the correct size to cover the text, just rub the sheet until the letter turns from black to grey, cut out a section containing the letter, position it on the dial and rub lightly to transfer the black block onto the dial. It will likely be almost invisible under the crystal and can be easily removed with a low tack tape.

I thought everyone knew, that if you use indelible marker pen and then write over it with dry wipe markers, the "indelible" ink becomes wipeable.
Alternatively, just use dry wipe markers in the first place!

It’s your watch and you can do what you want with it but I know I would be constantly checking the name to see if it was still visible after painting that it wouldn’t be worth it. I’m definitely in the sell it and get something you want.

If that after removal pic is genuine you need to go into dial cleaning business!

There’s no way I’d have thought it would come off without a trace or marking/rub to the dial.

It doesn’t really correlate between the quality of application to the quality of removal. Your skills are in cleaning!

I cannot believe it either. How would you ever remove the paint completely without leaving residues.
