Smile Order an Omega watch from Japan

Hi everyone this is my first post on this forum. I am looking to buy my first Omega Seamaster. I have found a good deal from The Watch Company Japan that listed price+shipping cheaper than Iconic around 500 GBP. I have few questions to ask you guys:

    1. Base on your experiece what is the chance to get the import duty charge for the expensive watch like this (4000 GBP) (Sent through EMS Japan)
    2. Iconic Watches offer any extra discount for Black Friday? (I prefer to order with them if they can close the price different gap)

Always had to pay 'duty' (actually VAT) with EMS.

If seller isn't AD you might not have Omega warranty either.

You should expect to pay VAT at 20% plus handling charges. If not expect your should budget for it

Always buy on the assumption that you'll get charged VAT when importing from outside the EU

What model and how much. It’s possible the price difference is simply down to the VAT.
It's just a matter of time...

Sounds like a bad idea to me unless the landed price (ie including VAT and shipping) is lower than the local price AND you have checked that the warranty is still valid. Otherwise the saving sounds pretty slim to me.

Seems like the saving is £500 and vat plus handling > £800 seems like no deal at all. Regardless of the warranty OP is likely to be at least £300 out of pocket versus iconic pricing

The chances you paying £800+ in import duty is about 99.9%. Unless the seller marks down the item, but highly unlikely for insurance reasons.

When importing a watch from outside the EU I had to pay VAT on a £60 watch which I thought was below the threshold for incurring VAT/customs duty.

The handling charges and delivery was double the fee I had to pay.

If there's a tax or fee due customs will charge you!
