Edwardian Watchmaker's Cabinet Update+French Polishing Story...

Bought this glasses cabinet last weekend in a bit of a state but as I like getting my hands dirty after meticulous watch repairs, I gave it a tidy up.
    How it looked then:

How it looks after French polishing:

French polishing always reminds me of this experience :
Years ago I bought a heavy 36 inch TV from Somerfields. The manager asked one of his summer lads to give me a hand with it to my car.
As we were struggling with it I asked the lad what he was planning to do after the holidays. "I want to be a cabinet maker" he replied.
"You'll have to learn how to French polish" I told him.
At that point the poor kid nearly dropped the telly and said,
"I'm not into things like that, I've got a girlfriend".
What could I say ? The poor bloke !
He scurried back to Somerfields and I left the manager to explain....!

Beautiful to see. I do love to see wood being restored and given the care it deserved.
