From the same brewery, Fuller's 1845 is (sort of) Pride dialled up to 11.

Think some of the pubs in Scotland’s Capital have it Ryries type boozers.

Badger: Furst Ferret, Tangle Foot, Blandford Flyer
    Brakspear Oxford Gold
Adnams Broadside (but take it steady if you are a light weight like me)
Anything from Otter Brewery if you are down in Dorset
Ruby Rooster from Lidl is also very good.

    And so many, many others.

I’m an ale fan but just don’t like LP.

My two locals are either Thwaites and I drink Confession Ale or a free house and I drink Flower Pots

Don't drink the stuff myself but if ever you're down South, the Fuller's pub in Chiswick does the best pint of Pride you'll every have according to my brother in law.
Stands to reason, they brew it next door!

One of my favourite pints (weird for a Yorkshireman) local has it as a guest ale, white witch is on at the moment - highly recommended

I had my first pint of Pride in 1985 in Hammersmith age 19. It's fair to say a few have passed my lips since then!

    London Pride Ale

Living near Burton on Trent Marstons Pedigree is good round me. As is Bass. Thornbridge as brewery is one of my personal favourites. Jaipur IPA is a good one of theirs. Their based in Bakewell but have got a few pubs in Sheffield.

As has already been said there loads and loads.

My family originate from Burton (don't live all that far away now), my dad's dad was quality control at Bass back in the day. Have you found the Pedi tasting a bit different recently? I think they've been messing about with it while changing the image.

Born and bred Burton lad right here and I'm a big ale fan. The Bass tower, which is now Coors, is at the end of the road I grew up on and I used to love the smell of brewing coming through the house when the wind was blowing it in our direction. My grandad had an allotment out of the back of the main Marstons site and you had to walk all the way through the brewery to get to it. They knew him so used to let him take used up hops for fertiliser. I sh1t you not, our veggies were fertilised with beer by-product

I'm not that fond of Pedigree. It's quite sulphurous so has a taste of eggs and is one of the less easy beers in terms of how it sits on the stomach.

To the Op... try them all and enjoy! Don't ask for recommendations, just drink the lot and work out what you like. If you have a micro brewery of some description near you, and who doesn't these days, get to know their beers including the seasonal ones. See what pubs they sell into and/or go to their shop if they have one and buy some bottles. Also if you're having friends over, go and buy a cask 'bright' (which means the sediment has been removed), borrow a bar pump from them and serve it up at home. It should work out at around or just over £1 a pint. It's a lot of fun. Enjoy sir!

Another shout for Sierra Nevada Pale Ale, Adnams Ghost Ship and St. Austell's Proper Job, especially fresh out the fridge on a hot summer's day. Brewdog Punk IPA and Tsing Tao lager are also summer time favourites. Tried Hop House 13, it's OK but not a patch on GS or PJ. For those that like the Sierra Nevada have a try of Coopers Pale Ale.

There are a a few great real ale pubs in my hometown, I'm on an afternoon/evening pub crawl on Saturday with some beer loving friends and I always try out something new in such circumstances.

Fullers London Pride can be really nice (and often is in London), but it doesn't always travel that well.
Ditto St Austell Tribute. It was years ago now, but the best pints I've ever had were Tribute in The North Inn @ Pendeen.
    Other favourites:
    Hopback Summer Lightning
    Hogs Back TEA
    Harvey's Sussex
    Gales HSB
    Theakstons OP
    Ringwood Best
I also really like the some of the Innis & Gunn beers.

I'll generally take a drop or two of 'Pride' at the Turk's Head in St Margaret's when I'm about.

I drank a couple of jugs of the stuff in there on Saturday before the game!
I have to say LP is my least favourite beer, which is a shame as it brewed about a mile and a half away from my front door and most of my local pubs are Fullers owned.
Ghost Ship is my all time favourite pint, broadside it pretty tasty as well.
Up the road from me is a small brewery called the Long Arm Brewing company, well worth a try if you can find it. It's brewed in the pub and they have started to sell it to other pubs in London. The beers are called
    Lucky Penny
    OK IPA
    Birdie Flipper
    Shadow Wolf
Well with popping in to the Ealing park tavern if you are in the area.
I understand they have also opened a pub in the city on Worship st next to Liverpool st statuon

One of the few ales that I can reliably get over here, it travels okay.

Back in the UK I usually gravitate towards Adnams.

    But not always.

Similarly we get Bombardier here in Malta. Pride, Bombardier and Directors are reliable standbies but I prefer a nice golden fragrant ale. Being married to a Yorkshirewoman I'm converted to Saltaire Blonde.

I feel your pain. Been in Indonesia for 11 months and apart from the odd visit to Singapore I can get nothing but fizzy dishwater.

Depends where you are - Hard to find anything very exotic in LA, but Portland (OR) is heaving with micro breweries.

If you're in Santa Monica, a couple of us found a little bar that only serves 'craft beers' - A couple of hours later we left a little less clear headed than we arrived, which is why I can't remember its name or exact location!

You're not wrong... I'm down in Augusta and there are loads of breweries and really good beers around but they are all cold and fizzy!

That said, I had a stout from Bells yesterday at a bar with 70 odd different beers and it was excellent.

Can't say I've found many ales I don't like, but I'm a fan of Ringwood Brewery (near where I grew up) and Hogs Back Brewery (near where I've lived for the last 30 years or so) products, bias maybe

St Austell beers stick in my mind as good, Proper Job, especially.

I'm partial to a pint of Sharps Doombar, too.

Fuller's Honeydew is a cracking summer beer.

The Swan in Staines do a nice selection of beer and used to sell one with a nautical name, but I forget what it was now! Seafarer's maybe?

I was down in Eastbourne recently so I tried a pint of Harveys bitter and was a little disappointed having heard how good their beers are.

I generally prefer lighter hoppy beers but generally I can drink any cask beer if it's in good condition. Ossett Brewery Silver King is one of my favourites.

London Pride's OK, not my favourite but very drinkable.

A bottled beer that's well worth a try is Green Gecko from Lidl. Don`t know who brews it but it's v. nice.

I grew up within a mile of Ringwood brewery and have always enjoyed their seasonal beers, especially Boondoggle and Porter 4X. Always good to go to the brewery and pick up a couple of flagons.

    I've never met a Fullers that I didn't like.

When I think back to my younger days, things were usually pretty dismal. Your choice in most pubs was "bitter" (which was usually quite flavourless), "mild" (even more so), Guinness (expensive), or some vile fizzy yellow stuff.

How things have changed! Now we're almost spoiled for choice. It helps that my local is the brewery tap for Castle Rock, but plenty of pubs have a wonderful selection of tasty, well kept beer.

One of the few things about modern life that I do approve of!

Mix was popular when I worked behind the bar. I don't know when I last heard it being ordered. May request one next time I'm out and see what response I get.

Back in the late 70s the only real hand-pulled beer in my part of West Yorkshire was Tetley bitter or Tetley mild. Mixed was quite a popular drink in the Tetley pubs (of which there were plenty) and I drank it myself for a few years.

Happy days.....but the beer scene is far healthier thesedays. Shame we've lost so many pubs, the concept of the drinking pub is virtually dead.

Jon, if I come over to Hull you can buy me all the beer you owe me for sorting your watches out, then stick a label on my head and post me on the train back to Wakey........I still recall you telling the tale about drinking 12 pints of draft Hobgoblin so there’s no way I’d go pint for pint with you......it wouldn’t end well!

Agreed, there are some super pubs in the old part of Hull........shame I wasn’t well when I visited last Christmas.

Most places have a few nice old pubs if you know where to look, thankfully the internet helps and it’s easy to do some homework before visiting.
