The perfect strap - watch combination THREAD

Just brightened this one up for a sunny evening out …

I couldn't wouldn't justify the OEM Tudor NATO - so the Strap Tailor seemed a decent compromise - as it is a similar style.

    My Panerai 210

    Before
Original Panerai strap, nice but a bit bright for my taste

    After
    Horween Essex from David@Cordesleather

I’ve swapped the buckle to keep that Panerai

    Happiness!!

Fitted today, I think this is a better combination....

    Than this....

Brings out the dial colour better I think.

Many thanks. I've been looking at it all evening and I think it's given the watch a greater presence.

Seiko SRP Turtle with a heavily textured tropic style FKM rubber which I’ve added the Seiko buckle and keeper to.

I don’t think you can beat the Uncle Seiko GL831 straps on the Seiko divers. They’re so comfortable and not too long like a lot of other dive straps.

I completely agree. They look authentic and become even more comfortable with age.

I can’t get on with the notching. If it was parallel then I’d agree.

I’m not sure what you mean David. You mean the cut out ridges, three on one side and two on the other? It is a curious design but it’s never bothered me, you just don’t see it on the wrist. Plus it’s just so comfortable and authentic to the original vintage Seiko straps.

No I mean that the strap is notched at the lugs, not parallel.

Aren’t most straps like this. I’d not really considered the notches. They just give the strap a little more width. Just looking at my Tuna on its OEM strap and this is the same with the side ‘notches’.
No worries though, we all like different things and I appreciate your opinion. Hope you’re enjoying the turtle. Love mine but prefer my Tuna which barely comes off my wrist.
Funny thing though I prefer the OEM on the Tuna, the US GL831 just feels a little thin on such a chunky watch.

I recently picked up a PRS-14, it came with a premium geckota beads of rice bracelet, but felt a flat link was required. Purchased a forstner flat link and am very satisfied:

I've entered a few pics in this thread. Its true certain watches suit certain straps. The Carrera Re-Edition CS3113 is the pinnacle of the Carrera Re-Editions for me and its only true strap HAS to be original 18mm Perforated Calf leather.

Does it really get any better than this? At present I'm struggling to argue with the watch and proportions.

Arguably the best bracelet Seiko ever produced; the Z199.

Maybe not 'perfect' as per thread, but a cheap(ish) watch x cheap strap = surprisingly excellent

I got it from "BEST TOWN NATO" via Amazon (Japan link, apologies - I suspect these must be available from Ali or other UK-friendly places though):

A little later in the day after a dip in the Pacific. Sky is now darker, and the strap too:

Vintage style leather with the looped threads look good on these from personal experience.

But I agree, think the OEM stock leather is perfect and replacements are fairly cheap from TH.

Looks great David, is that one the 284 from watchgecko? Of the two similar straps I found the US one slightly more comfortable and a better size with less overhang.

I believe NATOs are most at home on watches with fixed bars, but sometimes my rules should be broken. I love this combination of quartz GS on a B&J ribbed NATO

Lovin' this ribbed NATO on the Bremont. i've had 3 other nato's on her recently, but this one will stay for a while.

This is my 1st 'ribbed' strap and I have to say it feels indestructible, & the sewn-in keepers are of very good quality.
Need to order another colour or two, although this custard yellow suits the watch really well IMHO.

Looks good who are they from, is it a 2 piece nato style?
