Seems like theres a massive crackdown on all social media platforms... explains (another!) massive dip over the weekend..

So, the crypto market, what is the consensus now? Are people preparing for another bull market or are values still on the way down? Seems there is a lot more stability without such huge value swings now - is this the relative calm before a more gradual resurgence?

Stability? Down about 40% this month, I’d hate to see instability!

I was referencing StevieB’s comment about the markets bring more stable. Up or down, stability isn’t a word I’d use in relation to the crypto markets.

I understand. The markets are volitile no denying and a lot of the moves with banning social media etc are to regulate and remove the dodgy or high risk side so that ‘hopefully’ it is mainstream soon

If you want to take a punt go for it as it’s a nice feeling making 6000% on an investment but equally be happy to lose a few quid.

I would like to think / recommend that now might be a good time to buy but don’t chase me with a stick if it doesn’t go mental but equally I don’t want you sending me gifts when it goes horribly right!

    Any news? ;-)

As to stability; it was a relative term as compared to the extreme rise and subsequent fall the last week has seen it up by @1.3% which for BTC is a stable week.

My uneducated prediction - Absolutely not, it's going to be manic for years. Regulators are sniffing about, the war chest of MT GOX being sold off by a bunch of lawyers who have no clue what they're doing, Tether, Wall street discovering crypto, complete lack of regulation, hacking, did I mention Tether, Ethereum changes, more forks, positive and negative messages from governments on crypto. I don't think the chaos has even got started yet!

Unfortunately.. I share your position on the matter completely!

Having saying that, I’m taking this time to increase my positions without using any fiat currency, which is, I have to say, a LOT of fun and something I’ve never done before.

As of today I’ve increase my position by 18-20% while retaining 90% of my initial investment. All starting from late January.

PS. My opinion on the above discussion is also “uneducated” (kind of).. I mean, I don’t pretend to be an expert.

    Good day
    Claudio

Trade between Cryptos. So you could think ETH is currently under valued vs BTC and convert your BTC to ETH (buy ETH using BTC). At some point ETH goes up to a level were you sell it to get more BTC.

You can extend this to any other crypto pair.

Or you can just stick with a single crypto.. wait for the lows to buy and highs to sell, and see how you do.. it’s not always straight forward, but let’s say X crypto fluctuate at ~1-2% daily, you can potentially make 2-4% daily if you play it right.. doesn’t happen very often I have to say (in my case at least) but the chase is fun.

What appears to be the cause of the peak over late November, seems to be on a steady decline.

Sorry to be pedantic, but I think you mean 600% or 6 fold.

Making 6 times your investment back today is a great return if you bought in over a year ago, but I bet many are kicking themselves for not selling during the highs.

Worse, the poor sods who bought in to the hype on here and elsewhere around Christmas time.

Guilty; my investment is currently at 42% of what I paid.

I always thought it was a gamble so didn’t put much in. I’m quite happy to see where if goes longer term though. I may make a profit or I may lose the lot, it’s more entertaining than a five minute horse race though!

As the hype dies down (even on here ) is Bitcoin headed back to where it started before all the mania?

Or is it a great time to invest for those with strong stomachs?

    Cheers,

You could put £5k in and have 50k or have £1k.

Can you afford to lose £4k ?

Would you like to have £50k?

If we knew it wouldn’t be fun or worth it

    Bitcoin

It’s not really risk you can invest £5k in a business and it goes bust! It’s a combination of luck and interpreting knowledge. As some have realised they will day trade taking the 1-2% gains per day that are possible as it fluctuates and if done right will pull in a good 10-20% a month but hard work and requires luck or you can just throw £5k in (or any amount you are happy to lose) then forget about it.

I have 1/2 mine working and 1/2 of it being lazy. I won’t even look at the lazy half for 5 years

Comparing it to other forms of financial speculation doesn't somehow make it any less risky.

    And we’re surging.

And the press is interested again.

Fingers crossed more speculators hop on the bandwagon and inflate the value

That's what it is all down to, because at the end of the day, there is nothing there ..........hype away!

Although TBH I think investors may be much more wary of cryptos this time around after many got their fingers badly burnt recently by believing the hype that there was no downside to it.

I also think that people who lost out badly and are still holding will bale if the market rises enough to enable them to get their money back.
    Cheers,
    Neil.

Bought my first small amount over the Xmas holiday then a few more along the way, seen it sliding down and down, but with the surge today managed to recoup all and a little more, going to wait for it to drop again now and have another go.

I picked up 4000 of them, just to hold on to and see how far it goes. Justin Sun seems to be doing a good job.

    From Cryptomatic's Hodler Collection.

Perhaps one of these could tempt you to open up your bitcoin wallet?
