    Rude not to?

I have been invited to a Rolex event next month, showcasing the 2017 new references from Basel ( a bit late, but NI is a bit of a backwater ). Food and drinkies supplied. Would it be rude not to wear a Rolex? NB dress code is very smart casual, whatever that means.

Rolex and a nice jacket is the way forward. Enjoy!

Surely it wouldn't be rude, but it might disappoint other guests who will doubtless wish to ogle as many Rolexes as psosible. Of course you could do a bit of one-upmanship and wear a Patek - or, if you are in the mood for showing that you are slumming it, go along with a Greubel Forsey!

Wear a decent vintage Rolex, the modern ones are just trailer trash material.

Thinking of my 346. Understated and classy. IMHO anyway.

Hope I didn't leave too many fingerprints on these beauties!

Lots of suits but I went not-very-smart casual. Certainly a salutary lesson in where you are in the customer food chain. Usually chatty staff quick "Hello" and then into the minted clientele. Ah well, I can dream!

PS I didn't wear any watch as there seemed little point when the plan was to spend the evening trying on the new models.

Its all up to you. Wearing a Rolex to a Rolex event, no one will bat an eyelid from my experience unless you're rocking a vintage. Wearing a non-Rolex opens you to inquisitive/outright-rude looks though!

Next time wear a Val Doonican roll neck and a Casio it’s just snobbery.

I went into a IWC boutique in jeans and band tee shirt wearing a cheap Seiko diver on a old NATO,they treated me very well offering drinks and everything.
Good working practice as I walked out with a watch and I only went in to browse.
It was posh individual hand towels, automatic hi tech toilet, leather couches, fixtures to a very high standard, lots of books to read etc.and all the staff immaculately dressed.

Went to the Edinburgh one last month. Got hammered on the free beer and ended up talking with the owners. Think they wanted me to leave by the end of it 🙈
Great night and I did wear my explorer2.
