    What is my 14060m worth?

    Hi all,

I haven't been posting much for a while but still very much lurking. I would like to ask your advice regarding the value of my Z serial 14060m. I bought it head only but currently wear it on a 78790 bracelet that I retained from a 16570 that has since gone. No box or papers. It's very much my daily wearer and has the evidence to prove it (poor quality phone pic below) but if it is appreciating I might consider otherwise.

Your appraisals welcomed please - both head only and on the bracelet

It's certainly appreciating. Watchfinder would give you somewhere between 3600-4000. eBay it could sell for 4000-4250+.

A service and presented in a box with a few of bits like booklet and hang tag etc. would push it nearer 5k.

Head only - WF recently quoted 3400-3600 for mine on a Cousins Rubber strap (box and hang tag inc).

Crikey - that is considerably more than I was expecting!

I sold one on SC that was in need of a service, no box or papers for £3.7k.

I also sold a later four liner that was a full set in superb condition and that went just above £5k.

I would have thought higher or lower than a 3

But if Watchfinder are paying £3.5-4k for a head only 14060M I’d give them an email

Fellows Auction recently had a 2008 14060M with four line dial. Smashed crystal and non functioning movement. It went for £3200 plus Buyers Premium of 27%, so over £4300 in total. Then it required at least a crystal and a service to get it right

Full set 4 liner would be a £5k+ watch though

I bought new for well under £3k, as a present for my brother. I ended up buying myself one, and have always had at least one since then. Although I paid a lot more for the last one :(

This is about what they are worth, what someone is willing to pay for it is another story altogether! The decent thing to do would be to sell to jimmbob as he seems to have first dibs! 😘

Wow - thats mad how the prices have gone up since 2011 in that case. I am fairly new to watches and didn't realise prices have been hiked in the last 5 or so years.

Price would have been around £4190 for the last 14060m COSC price list from memory.

Prices have increased, but they always do

Are people predicting that prices for used 14060's will continue to rise?

I assume they will. I'd expect the COSC to rise more and faster, due to significantly lower production numbers and the 5512 effect.

I have sent off a query to WF - eagerly awaiting their reply. If I get an offer near £3.5k - £4k I will be hugely surprised.

    Watch (haha!) this space...

If you’re selling it, I’ve no doubt that it would sell in minutes on SC at the WF offer price.

I bought a 14060 with box, stamped card and a few other bits at the beginning of this year for £3800. Its far from perfect. I know the 14060M is different but it does surprise me that WF are offering £3.5k - £4k for head only as in my experience they tend to at least start with a relatively low offer.

We have no idea what they are offering, yet. It will be interesting to know though.

highly doubt watchfinder will go up to £4k. They have a few mid 90s 14060s atm for £4.7-4.9k, and a 2004 14060M for £5.5k. Their markup is usually about 40%. Saying that I have found that they offer more than a lot of other dealers for buying second hand pieces. Interested to see what they offer though!

You could get £4250 dead easy here, you put a SS Sub up for sale and it's like honey to a bee.

Are the 14060 in more demand than a 16610?

I have my 16610 (1992) for sale in the SC at £4900 which seems cheap compared to prices in this thread.
Its a full original complete set and just came back from a service.

Might try sticking it on eBay to see if there is any takers.

    I think that they are.

Even though they were cheaper new, it appears to me that the 14060 and 16710 have all leapt ahead of the 16610 price wise along with the 16600. I think that there will be a correction (if it’s not already happening) and the sub dates will catch up.

In todays market I think at that price you should become a registered charity. You are giving it away but it's your choice.

& I think the price on the 16610 is good to ok, not great, but ok. It probably would have sold quicker/immediately at a pre service price. There are quite a few about, and while it looks good the bracelet has seen better days.

Could still make a very nice buy for someone though.

To be honest its not a great pic of the bracelet, there is some stretch as expected but it still fits and looks great on the wrist. My father has a mid 90's GMT which has similar amount of wear on the bracelet so I presume its about right for the age?
Price wise what do you all think is fair for it?

I would not drop too much as then I might as well hang on to it and sell at a later date.

I paid £3750 for a 14060 , tritium dial earlier in the year.
I expect it's still worth what i paid for it
I will treat it to a Rolex service at some point

I paid £4800 off a dealer for mine - in great condition, just serviced and with box, papers, bits etc. also a years warranty. Bought it last month.

    Year 2000 14060 2 line - not and 'M'

    M

I'd have thought that, a little like the stock market, any Rolex valuation needs a date stamp as it will be superseded by that afternoon's price increase and subsequent re-evaluation of the second hand market. Mind you, with the current waiting list for second hand Rolex...

I'm thinking of selling off my currently winning ebay bid for a 1963 Oyster Royal. I'm just not sure how to value it.

If you really want to sell it to WF then go back and say you think the price is a little low.

They offered me £1.5k - £1.6k for my Black Bay Black ETA a few weeks ago. They sent a follow up email asking what I thought of the price so i told them it was a bit tight given they are listing them for more than the current in-house movement version on their site giving them an easy £1k profit. They later sent a revised offer of £1.9k

Did they know it wasn't a Sub bracelet? If so, I think that is a very good offer. Obviously the market is moving in the right direction for owners of Sub. Either way it looks like you will get a good price for your watch - everyone should be happy!

But agree with the above comment - WF will sometimes increase their offers for sports Rolex, or other harder to get watches.

I think I will be more likely to consider putting it in the safe and investigating another daily wearer...or there's part of me that thinks 'just wear the damn thing'

I'd just wear it. That's what i'm doing with mine anyway.

The way I see it is that it's as good as money in the bank. I'm actually quite happy that mine isn't mint as i'm not worried about wearing it.

Good call; what’s the point of just leaving it in the safe?
Every day you don’t wear it is one day less that you can wear it!

Agreed. I don't see the point in leaving a watch in the safe. Would rather invest in something else such as a well diversified portfolio of stocks if I was not going to use the watch anyway.
