The OP has, like everyone, made his own decision and that's fine. I can see both arguments, but my experience is that it'll be an utter waste of effort. If (and it's a big if, actually) he goes onto kill someone later, how is feeling that you told the Police any kind of consolation?

I'll be interested to hear what the Police do (or indeed could do).

Absolutely correct, the OP asked a question that simply sought a yes or no answer.
No explanation of a person's answer was requested.

Send it to mailonline, make a few quid from it, the police will then take notice of it because it'll be all over social media.

Would you report this to the police?

No, police are too busy painting their finger nails. https://twitter.com/defendevropa/sta...01962571714560

Well, I got a phone call from the Police saying that, rather a meeting and taking the video in to the Police Station, would I email it to them. This I tried to do, but the video, at original quality, was way too large to email.

So I advised the officer that, without lowering the image quality, I couldn't email it to them, (and at lower quality they wouldn't be able to read number plates, road signs etc anyway). I also said that I didn't want to be seen to be tampering with the video in any way.

The officer then asked me to take the memory card into my local Police Station and they would forward it to the investigating officer, (based at a different police station). So they do seem to be interested in the incident.

I took it in to them yesterday.

To those asking me to post online. I'm reluctant to do this for a couple of reasons. Firstly, I don't want to be seen to be interfering with a police investigation and secondly, the footage contains and displays my cars registration number and I don't want that plastering all over the internet for obvious reasons.

I'll let you know what happens next.
    Best Regards - Peter

I'd hate to be with you when you're on your own.

last year a lorry backed into one of our buildings and drove off, it caused about £20k of damage, no one was hurt, the whole thing was recorded on CCTV, the number plate was clear as was the company name and logo, we called the company and they flatly denied that they had a lorry in the area, initially the police did not want to know as there were no injuries, after we caused a fuss they agreed to investigate, we had to send the CCTV to the casualty reduction officer who would allocate resource we sent them DVD's from three cameras from different companies. that was the last we heard from the police.

Then again people judge fast driving for dangerous driving.

Consider your daughter and her kids on the footpath then ask yourself the same question. Get them of the road before they kill someone!!

If I got his number plate, I would call 999 and tell them straight away (anonymously, - simply to save time telling them what race I am, where I work and what my favour colour is).

If there is a local unit he could well be picked up, so I think it would be worth alerting them at the time ASAP.

As for convicting him of careless driving for what you witnessed, - then I would not bother unless it was video recorded.

You haven't actually read the OP have you? Until you do, don't bother commenting - waste of bandwidth.

Well done OP. The phrase 'investigating officer' sounds promising

I agree with this calling 911 is pointless and is taking valuable time away from someone who could be helping saving lives.
