    VW Caddy

I currently have a RR Sport ad while its lovely - it drinks fuel and is probably overkill for what I need as I dont do many miles 10 to work each day and tend to use it with the seats down to walk the dog or use it to house muddy kit and balls (I coach kids football) and I also do a lot off fishing so ultimately I need the boot space and Im thinking of moving to a van - As it wont need much upkeep and will probably be better long term and offer decent residuals.

I do like the caddy but if any owners have any feedback Im keen to hear your thoughts Im considering the LWB version but any users feedback on engine size, model, performance etc.....

    Thanks

Have the Caddy maxi, last of euro5's, 140bhp, 6 speed, lovely van.

Bought it new back in February, wanted a Transporter but divorce put pay to that. The guy at the garage said I wouldn't regret buying it but didn't think so at the time, however now - love it. Cruise along at 70mph getting about 50 to gallon, cruise at 65mph gets about 56mph, very reliable having said that it was brand new. Plenty of torque, no tow bar fitted so not sure what towing a trailer would be like.

Lots of space in back, can get my mountain bike, road bike in with plenty to spare, only thing I miss is only good for 2 people, did take it to a conversion specialist in Kendal and would be about 3k for side windows, rear seats (2+1) and insulated - so maybe one day, but one day can see myself eventually getting a transporter Kombi.

To sum up, very happy albeit VW know how to charge for extras

    Hope that helps

I like the Caddy's but essentially you'd be going from a Range Rover to a Polo. Maybe an Amarok might be more like the RR to drive with a few more creature comforts.

You're not doing the RRS any favours with just 10 miles from cold everyday. engine wear and tear will be high on that short journey and oil won't be anywhere near operating temp to properly lubricate engine. Be careful with engine damage and fuel economy too will be horrendous with 10 miles

Agreed hence why Im looking to move it on sooner than later - I just need to get a van sorted - I had one before and it was great but my ego got the better off me when the sport came along but hindsight means I prob should have got the caddy from the off - any feedback on models to avoid I know the 1.6 had injector issues so thinking 1.9 tdi - really dont need anything bigger the rr is overkill

I run a 2017 Caddy Life with the 1.4TSI and DSG box. It's certainly quick enough round town and will cruise at motorway speeds without effort. It's a bit agricultural inside but for the price what do you expect? The ride can be choppy at times but it's easy to park (swb).
The most irritating thing is the display, which I suspect is common to VW. It tells you almost nothing unless you fiddle with the column stalk, which you don't want to do when driving. The mileometer only appears at start and stop, same with the trip. I keep meaning to take it to the dealers to see if they can fix that.
