Mmmmm. That plane looks perilously close to that building - almost like it's gonna land on top and smash that Manga girl to flaming smithereens !!
Great art, do you know what it's from?
No, you might get some right click info from the page I found it on?

Deviant art used to be full of stuff like this. Not sure if it still exists but it used to be a wonderful place full of amazing original art work
I like to watch Manga and anime; never really enjoyed comics though.
Got this from Twitter, no idea where it’s from.
Only in japan would you have kids with sniper rifles....

My personal manga favourite along with Akira, Vampire Hunter D , fist of the North Star , Devilman is none other than GolGo 13 plus old duke is a seiko fan
Personally the hand drawn stuff appeals to me much like the Disney of old. These newer anime that are pixelated computer renderings just leave me very cold

Any Ghost in the shell fans here? When I first saw that back in 1995 it blew my mind. Was studying computer science at the time. I finished Psycho Pass recently and quite enjoyed it too.

If you haven't done so already, watch Stand Alone Complex. I've only watched a few of them so far, but have been blown away by how good they've been. I put off watching it for years because I was expecting the typical TV spin-off that's not as good as the original. It's the opposite of that. It has the same depth & complexity as the movie, but with more breathing room to develop the characters and explore ideas fully.
It can be hard to track down a copy (the Blu Ray set is insanely rare & expensive), but you can buy it on Amazon Instant in HD.
Art indeed..
Anyone have any other more recent Anime recommendations?

Anyone here into the Ghibli Studios stuff? Spirited Away and Howl's Moving Castle were two of my favourites.
You forgot a few classics:
- Nausicaa
- Laputa
- My Neighbor Totoro
Those are all pretty similar in tone & scale, although Totoro is a bit more alice-in-wonderland and more kid-friendly than most. Princess Mononoke stands out as well, but its a bit heavier going than the others.
One of my favourites, and probably their most under-appreciated film, is Porco Rosso. It's one of the more serious works, but it's still very lighthearted (at least on the surface). It's one of the few films you can watch several times and take away something different each time. It also has far fewer fantasy elements than usual, other than pilot having been inexplicably turned into a not-just-metaphorical pig. Watch it first as a whimsical comedy with some incredible artwork, then watch it again as an open-ended introspection about life that will make you think, but won't spoon-feed you platitudes. I've seen reviews complaining about it leaving loose ends, like never fully explaining why Porco is a pig: those reviewers are completely missing the point. It's an absolute masterpiece, which you can approach with your brain on or off and get a lot out of it either way.
Incidentally, if you like the more whimsical & fantastical sort of stuff, you'll probably appreciate Little Witch Academia, which is on Netflix. It's a 30-minute short, but they pack a lot into it, so it feels longer. It gets better on each re-watch, as you can appreciate more and more of the attention to detail in both the story and the artwork. They've made it into a series (also on Netflix). I haven't started watching it yet, but only because I'm saving it for when I need to watch something new that's guaranteed to be good. There's also a sequel to the original short called "the Enchanted Parade" which is not quite as good as the original, but still very good.
Ghibli is classic, Howls castle and princess mononoke are amazing. Lewis Carrol would approve I think..
Anyone seen Gantz: O? Would highly recommend it, based on the Gantz manga but CGI instead of drawn animation. It's currently on Netflix.
It’s got a certain charm!! ⬆️
