If you look on page 1 there is still some cloth available.

Just by way of an update I have plans to purchase some more tweed next month. I'm very fond of the place in Dublin where I've bought everything to date
(Kevin & Howlin in Nassau St - opposite the side gate of Trinity College and well worth a visit) but if this thing is to have any future it strikes me that buying at full retail in somewhere selling top quality schmutter to American tourists is perhaps not the most prudent approach. I'm hoping to make a short trip to Donegal and knock on the door of a couple of weavers. Given how relatively little material is needed for a strap I'm hoping that I might find a couple of places with a remnants basket but I'm also mindful that continuity for some patterns is also going to be key.

With this in mind I will be looking for tweed with certain characteristics and I'd be grateful for people's thoughts. My thinking so far:

    1. Predominantly black but with some flecks, probably to include a bit of red.
    2. A dark brown herringbone
    3. Predominantly navy blue - like the blue in the last batch but darker.

How long did they take to arrive for everyone ? I had an email from Andrea on the 17th October to say that they were being posted but they still haven’t arrived yet.

The best I've had was a week and the worst a month. That doesn't sound great.

Could've been held up at customs perhaps?

Experimenting with these is a most pleasant diversion. I've moved the dark grey salt & pepper onto the 'Curta' Amphibia which I think works better than the Cosmotron, and is in keeping with the colour scheme of Type I and early Type II Curta models.

My light-grey "herringbone" didn't quite work with the watch that I initially had in mind, however inspired by Caruso's post I tried it on an X-33 and I'm very pleased with the result.

    Tweed, the original Kevlar.

That does look surprisingly good. I've always thought of tweed as, if anything, the original camouflage pattern.

That looks great. I got the herringbone too but in 22mm so too big for my X-33, but it goes ok with my Steinhart Bronze.

Finally managed to wear the new strap. I’m liking it and it seems appropriate on a chilly day like today.

Received and gift to fundraiser made yesterday. Haven't had time to fit it yet but looks extremely well made.

Sub on the mid grey salt and pepper. I need to find a less clashing jumper!

I have saved what I consider to be the best of mine until last. I was one of the few who went for the dark green "houndstooth" tweed. Because it has a fairly large pattern I decided on a minimum lug width of 22mm in the hope that the colours and the design would both be clearly visible.

I don't have many watches that had an even remote chance of working, but in the end took a bit of a gamble on it not looking absolutely dreadful on my "tropical dial" flightmaster 910 and I'm grateful to C-B for his patience whilst I procrastinated.

Andrea has done a marvellous job with the symmetry of the pattern.

Personally I think that the colours complement the dial, and the thickness of the strap works well with the large case size.

    It catches the sunlight beautifully.

The combination might not appeal to many, but I absolutely love it. I certainly intend to order some more straps following the Donegal trip.

Once again, many thanks to Alan for making this happen and also for giving the fundraiser a boost.

The colours do go well with the dial, and there's not many straps you could say that for!
