It signifies night and day I think, so no need for that on a non gmt!

Hopefully this is not too daft a question...
Why is it that most (nearly all that i have seen) watches with 50/50 split coloured bezels (Pepsi, Batman styles etc) seem to be GMT watches?
I have seen quite a few watches where the first 15-20 minutes are coloured, but whenever the bezel is split on colour top to bottom 50% it seems to be GMT.
I am interested to know why this is, and also to find some examples of watches with the 50/50 split that are not GMT.
Thanks.

You could buy a Seiko and an after market bezel. There are a few available that have an even slip of colour that aren't GMT marked
I asked about the colour variation in dive watch bezels a few months ago. As far as I understood it, the first 15/20 minutes are important to a diver timing their decompression, hence the different colour.
It's basically an indication of day/night, this is between the hours of 0600 & 1800. So, relative to the 24 hour hand & the point of where your bezel pip is sitting you will know in a different timezone whether it was night or day. Very simplistic I know but that's the fundamental idea. Using the Rolex GMT pepsi/coke bezel, blue is daytime & red signifies nightime.

So basically the answer is form follows function

Thanks for the answers, that does explain the two colours, and a quick identifier for night and day.
I have seen the 15/20 minute split bezels are non GMT, but they don't appeal quite as much as the 50/50 split.
I just like the look of the full split. Obviously without the GMT part that would be purely cosmetic.
I have never swapped a bezel before so will have a look into how hard that might be...
Thanks again :)
Here's an example of an after market one:
Here is a link to a seller. There are four different colour combinations on this page:

Changing an insert is pretty straight forward.

That's not my watch, just a google image. It's not too hard to change an insert. Pop the bezel off with a knife, then push the insert out from the back, refit the bezel sans insert. Once it's back on, stick the new insert in place with either some double sided tape or the adhesive pads you can buy. Fit the bezel first so you know the insert lines up!
