Hi

A friend has what he thinks is one of the first automatic military watches, an Autorist by John Harwood in a solid gold case, he says it was made to stop soldiers with muddy fingers from messing up their manual hand wound watches.

It winds via a strange system where the strap moves one side of the lugs creating an up/down motion, there is a part missing and the movement is filthy but hoping someone here can give me some info on the watch.
