Or, the buyers could be putting money in the pocket of the dodgy civvy who works in stores and steals them on a regular basis?

Like many others on here, I keep an eye on the 'bay to see what CWC's are about and what they are fetching.
In the past few months there have been more than ten SBS models offered for auction that are all low issue numbers and 2017 dated.
Although all are "new" "unworn" or "worn once" none have had a Silvermans warranty card. Some have been loose,
Some in a tin.
One seller has sold at least six in the last few months...
"unwanted gift"
"From my own collection"
"Bought at a car boot sale"...
...guess where he lives?!
A "Silvermans" SBS was on eBay recently with a warranty card dated, iirc, April 2017. I don't remember the issue number, but the year was 2016.
So, if Johnnie Civilian is being given 2016 watches up to April this year.
Where are these 2017 watches all coming from I wonder.

From my own military experience it's the worse thing that the military ever did was to employe civilians in stores. Stores are for storing.
[QUOTE=Andyg156;4513083]Or a serving storeman, there is more bad press on them than their civi counterparts in my experience.
Fair point, only mentioned civvies due to only ever seeing civilians in the stores. No offence intended
You do know that the SBS don't live in Hereford, right?
They are in Poole, Dorset.
Even though the watch is called the SBS, CWC claim to supply it to UKSF in general. So theoretically a few could’ve ended up in Hereford.
Being given a watch is a far less significant thing than we, with our interest in watches, think it is. I’ve never seen an issued watch with any of the guys I’ve worked with, serving and ex military. To be honest, out the guys I know if any of them had been issued something like the SBS they would’ve chucked it in a drawer and carried on wearing their g Shock!
Edit: I’ve just remembered one person who wore a citizen eco drive that he was given whilst serving in the Marines. It’s exactly the same as a high street version with no military markings whatsoever.

Absolutely. Everything issued is automatically assumed to be crap. Very little of what I carried (and sometimes wore) into the field was issued by Pusser. Bergen, webbing, troos and jacket was about it.
Ha ha, I'm just waiting for somebody to ask what colour the boat house is, then this thread will be an official Walt festival! 🤣
