    The second design is very like my Panerai;

No idea what it’s called though.

I don’t know about the top one, but the bottom looks like a simple variation on the Acanthus leaf pattern that is common on shotgun engraving.

Hope they didn't get the green camo idea from that strap.

    See above - acanthus leaves.

You can get an idea of how extensively they are used in gun engraving here:

Can I come to the party? Don't own one but would love a Royal Oak steel 15400 with the blue dial. Went to an AD today to look at a Panerai but the kind lady did let me try on the 15400 in rose gold. Man that's a heavy watch! It's also £40K so way over my pay grade. Managed to grab a quick but poor 'phone pic, I have to say it's much better in the metal, quite gorgeous in fact...

This is what it should look like...

Bumping this as I want another AP in my collection (got rid of an AP ROO diver and a RO 15400). Unfortunately I tried on a ROO chrono (42mm) today and was left feeling that Its just too big having become used to a 40 mm SD, 16710 GMT and a 41mm Hublot Big Bang. The size of the ROO Chrono is huge compared to the Big Bang despite only a 1mm difference.

Hence I’m now looking at the RO chrono and would appreciate any wrist shots, especially the 26300ST reference (white faced chrono with red accents).

    cheers
    Tim

    Tim,

    Here’s a few
This pic made me want the black dial

But in person I think the silver is the nicer of the two (haven’t seen the blue)

Not mine but love this pic of the IP

Also I’ve upped my AP game with this piece

I did see that thread and looked on longingly, it’s a stunning piece. Thanks for the other pics, I’m looking at the white faced dial with some form of darker sub dial as I have no white face in my (small) collection. Having tried the AP ROO Chrono today I desperately want an AP back but maybe something a little smaller.

The silver dial which does appear whiteish in most lighting is the pick of the SS bunch if you ask me!

Have to keep posting this occasionally to remind people that AP have also made "non-porthole" watches.

To me, AP are the stylised porthole case. When they do other shapes, they don't do anything for me! I have no idea why.

This is probably their marketing / branding department’s nightmare - how do we diversify away from the RO without killing it? Porsche successfully tackled the same issue with the 911.

AP 1.5 link - ludicrously expensive
Royal Oak that actually fits - priceless!

I don't know where else to put this, but I was window-shopping in Southampton today. There is a pawn shop in the Marlands which has an AP ROO chronograph in plastic and original AP box. Looked mint. It was the only watch in the window without a price on it! I wonder why? I had never really appreciated how big they are, it looked, er, substantial.
    They also had two Hublots

Any excuse to post this beauty. AP certainly do make more than just Royal Oaks. The quality of the finish on this Jules is far above that on any other watch I’ve owned.

The ****** bezel picks up scratches like no other watch I've owned. But it really is a thing of beauty...

That, along with some really bad service from AP, was the reason my steel ROO was moved on.

Can you fit the gold bracelet to this if you wanted to?
