    Classic Mercedes 1963

Customer in the showroom for a test drive brought his SL300 to show us.

    Enjoy!

Wow! Nice to see something so valuable being driven rather than sat in a collection as an asset to appreciate.

So true. Not that it'll do anything other than appreciate anyway!

Lovely seeing these old motors being used; I particularly enjoyed the Goodwood Revival highlight last week.

I was at the revival, too- had a great time.

Watching one of the races, and a Ferrari goes off the track- friend (who races) mentioned that it was worth £60m...

I wasn't there unfortunately, just watched the highlights on tv.

Two stunning cars. Being a life long Mercedes fan (as A boy I wanted an SL R107 more than anything in the world) I've always liked these old SLs.

I've not had a Mercedes to date (it's a brand not allowed on our company car list despite being allowed Audis and BMWs) but I will get myself one some time soon, but regrettably it won't be one of those two beauties.

Owners dad was the original owner, so it's always been in the family.

I think that convertible has been in Westfield a few times and I've had a gawp. Apparently my brother's wife's dad used to have one, and she used to swan about in it from time to time. She's still a bitch.

Best looking Mercedes ever, so beautifully made too. Worth a couple of quid no doubt.

Very nice car, indeed both are very nice though I think the coupe does a bit more for me :-) and indeed great to see it being driven

The period car park at the Revival is always a stunning place to have a wander, and always amazing that you end up thinking cars like an E Type aren't that special as there's so many parked up

    Stunning.

A recently retired consultant used to come to work in alternating DB5s and E-Type Jags. I would find any excuse to go outside to see them.

Great car. When driven in anger it's quite a spectacle. A few weeks back I was overtaken by a fire engine red Gullwing SL. Since I was hauling a trailer with sailing dinghies, I was not really fast... But the Gullwing was! The noise is also something special when you're overtaken.

You need to drive them hard and fast to evaporate the excess fuel that may get into the oil from the mechanical fuel injection...

    That’s a gullwing, not a convertible.

I run a 1968 280sl pagoda. Restored to new conditions.

300sl my money no object car. Gullwing the best design. Windows don't go down though. Roadster better to drive.

This guy was at car fest this year driving on the track (less race track, more parade track). The value is north of £1m he stated (not that he’d ever consider selling apparently)
