    Re-visiting my youth. (Car content)

Having had this for 5 years now I thought it was time to put it back on the road. Had the rear wheel arches done and painted down the sides only. Nova SR/Sport interior fitted and also a set of Compomotive wheels, I think it turned out ok! Sport engine with twin Webbers is waiting to be fitted as well. I am the third owner and it has only covered 54k from new.

    stunning condition and lovely colour!

Brings back memories - my mum had a regular 1.0 Opel version.... Bright yellow ex hire car - the pedals and the steering were alfa-style and not aligned to the seat
burnt oil faster than diesel and took ages to cold start when it had rained a bit
went everywhere in it as dad didn't let me use his car in the evenings... a mate of mine had the GSI with the three spoke alloys

Guys, the Nova was totally shit. I get the nostalgia thing, but this takes it to a whole new level. Next, we will be admiring the MG Metro!

There are quite a few 'unfortunate' car names. Pajero is one, too

This seller is a bit of a phony IME. I enquired about a MK1 XR2 he had listed but they stated it had sold. They continually ran the listing for months and months after my enquiry and I can only think that they do it to attract inquiries and try and convert you to vehicles they actually do have.

No, my sole does. These cars are crap. They never competed with their piers of the time. Why do we now extol their virtues? Much better vintages out there.

Great car OP. Love the colour and the interior is minty.

I remember back in the mid to late 90s as a teenager the Nova SR was the car lots of my mates owned/dreamed of as you could actually insure one compared with the likes of the SRI or GTE premiums!

Lee, it is a Nova. Once you accept that, the desirability plummets.

Doing a similar think with cars i thought were nice in my early working life, all barges but remind me of a time long gone, so far Mercedes w124, three piece suite on wheels ran this for 4 years, painfully slow and boring but cost pennies to run, Volvo 960 estate, very thirsty and shortlived and currently an e39 Bmw, we are spoilt today, cars have come a long way.

I remember when I were a lad, the Nova fetched a little more than the other hatches. Only one of our mates could afford one. I had a few XR's but always fancied one of these.

Is that an original colour Lee?
