Do you own your favourite watch?

The "coke" Rolex GMTIIs produced between 2000 and 2003 (SEL, Superluminova, with lug holes) are my favourite watches. Its a subjective opinion of course, but i cant see any negatives in mine and owning it has been nothing but a pleasure. Remove the prospect of a significant profit and i would not swap it for another watch; new or vintage.

How many of us own our favourite watch?

  2. #2
Yes. SDc. No question. Ticks every box for me. Really stopped the 'quest for the pne' when I got this. It's like being married. I still look at others. Wouldn't mind trying them but nothing does it for me like this one.

I think so - although I have two....

    Daily - Seiko auto SNK805K2

Grail - IWC Porsche Design Ocean 2000

Between these two - i am pretty happy.

Some on here won't own their favourite watch until they've made all the payments 😁

My grail is the Pepsi GMT, unfortunately I don't own one but I have over a hundred other watches to console myself with.
I have a submariner, 1984, and a couple of Tudor watches though so if anyone fancies a trade.
Rolex prices are completely stupid now so even though I have the dosh I just can't bear to pay £6,000 for a watch which after all is just another watch .
I'm just a very naughty boy.

Good deals with- VINSTINK, kevkojak, Optimum, Omegary, seikoking, acg, SPEEDY, kfman, Card Shark, wajhart, Jot, danboy, zenomega, gaz64, minke, Mal52, Alas, norfolkngood, Sparky, rdwiow, mrteatime, gravedodger, joeytheghost, lordoftheflies, Silver Hawk, Filterlab, brooksy, marmisto, Fray Bentos, Bootsy, Harvey69, Mantisgb, bristolboozer, Jedadiah, newtohorology, Zephod, jimm1, Draygo, Raptor.

I may have forgot one or two, apppologies.

Yep, both my Speedmaster and Aerospace are my two favourite watches. However, I'd love to say I'm content but that just isn't true....

My current favourite is the DSSD d blue. But it is constantly being jostled for that position .

Good analogy. I love mine. It's all l need in a watch. Though I'm not perhaps so faithful a husband as you!

Do any of us really have a consistent favourite? Mine changes all the time. I'm very fickle like that. If I put a new strap on one ... that's my favourite .... for about a week or two. I put a new battery in this one a week ago and it's not been off my wrist since - 1971 Bulova Accutron Deep Sea 'B' [IMG][/IMG]

Kinda in that own the Hublot I wanted (41mm black ceramic, not some blingtastic footballer version) and the Rolex GMT and SD4K. Do I aspire to other watches though? Of course, having had an AP ROO diver and an AP RO I aspire to the ROO Diver chrono that I may or may not get. I aspire to the Ceramic Daytona, I aspire to a PP Nautilus chrono. I also aspire to one of the first Seiko Kinetics (the one from the advert with the half bracelet, half rubber strap) that I loved but was unable to afford at the time.

What a beautiful dial that Omega has.

I don't own my favourite watch... yet. Mortgage and three kids is doing a decent job of slowing things down.

I love dress watches, and have tried many on out of interest, but I know I don't go to anything that warrant owning one. I'll tick a Nomos off the list some point soon, but thats about as dressy as i'll ever get.

I think my favourite watch is a nautilus and I don't own one. But if I did own it I'm not sure it would live up to my expectations!

    Impossible to say.

I really like the look of the Fifty Fathoms, but would it be my favourite watch if I owned one?

I don't think you know what your favourite watch is, unless you own and wear it...

In the BLNR I think I own my favourite every day watch.

    Until I own a 5146 though I don't think I'll have my outright favourite.

I am not certain that I own my favourite watch, unless you try them all how could you?

After owning many forum favourites I am finally lucky enough to own a watch that....

    • I cant wait to put on
    • Enjoy wearing whenever I can
    • Stare at even when I already know the time
    • Can wear all day/night without wanting to take it off
    • Can enjoy wearing without worrying about its rarity/rising value
    • Made me sell the rest of my collection with no regret (at all)
    • Stopped me wanting to try/buy any other watches
    • Feels like it belongs on my wrist
    • Has very nearly weaned me off this forum

Who knows how long these feelings will last? it has been 6 months which is the longest honeymoon period yet

Yes. AP ROO diver in both standard dial variants.
It's been my favourite for a few years but I'd always been put off because the they have a bit of a reputation for being rapper watches plus servicing is mythically eye watering. It's actually not that bad.
Eventually I just thought eff it. What's the point in having a grail that you could get but choose not to because Rolex is the safer option.
I still love my 1680 and wear it occasionally but the fit finish and comfort of the APs makes them my go-to's.
I wish I'd just done it sooner before all the obnoxious price rises. :-/

Always loved the Coke GMT's and one of these could be my first Rolex, the one I really want though is the 16760 "Fat Lady" just that little bit different but different nonetheless..

I have some of my favourite watches. The rest are absurdly expensive, and I can't make peace with the idea of buying and wearing what I consider to be absurdly expensive watches, even if I theoretically could. The clue is the 'absurdly' part.

    Yes I do, it's this:

Not my most iconic, expensive, or newest, but my fave, and always the one I reach for, unless I need a G-Shock. I can't imagine liking another watch more, it just suits me.

When I was looking for something new last summer and considering lots of options, this is the one that I just kept returning to. I love the look of it and the feel of it on, also like the fact that I've never seen another being worn in the flesh.

This is a favourite of mine. I have about 60 watches and a lot more expensive than this, but I just like the way the damn thing looks. I even like the way, when using the chrono', it un-winds when resetting. Though it can be annoying at times, when cooking, waiting for the reset to zero.
