"GGG" Golovkin
"Canelo" Alvarez
Anyone staying up to watch the big fight? I bought it for $80.00 here in San Diego.
It'll be a cracker. Golovkin is quite a bit bigger so I think it'll be stopped later on in the fight. Alvarez is a very good technician though so I expect him to give a good account of himself early on
Prefer GGG, but I can see Canelo winning on points.
Ugly side of boxing rears its head again. Disgusting
GGG won. But it's all about getting the rematch
How did one judge score it so differently??
What an embarrassment for boxing!
GGG easily won. 8-4 in rounds, at a push you could say 7-5.
Not the first time GoldenBoys cash cow has got a decision like this.....a judge gave him it against Mayweather and the Trout and Lara fights were controversial.......corruption!!!???
The result rendered the fight as farcical and meaningless as the Mayweather/Macgregor nonsense.
F.T.F.A.
Canelo was robbed he was the clear winner, sharper better work throughout, dominated the openig and closing rounds.
GGG just plodded and tried to bludgen his way through the rounds, Canelo far the better boxer.
Avoided all mention of the fight, and have just watched it now. I scored it 116-112 to GGG, and that was being generous to Canelo.
Canelo had 1-2 decent Hollywood shots each round, but didn't offer enough for the majority. Was constantly on the backfoot. I'm amazed that one judge called it a draw, and the other gave it Canelo by such a wide margin.
Like the interviews at the end, Canelo was going for the knockout in the last 2 rounds, as he knew he needed it.
Results like that are just bent, shocking.
Too much hype, like that last Mayweather farce. Saunders and Monroe Jnr was more entertaining.
Great fight and I think it was fairly close but certainly not a draw. GGG clearly won but Canelo has nothing to be ashamed of.

Interesting take on it here I can't disagree with too much. The farce of the Byrd scorecard and the overall draw robbed Canelo of maintaining honour in defeat, the bitterness over this result is aimed at him instead of us applauding what was a bloody gutsy performance.
GGG won that fight, he knows it, Canelo knows it and Adalaide Byrd knew it too.
Bill is the WBO world champion and he beat Eubank Jnr, that makes me biased. I know Pikey foul mouth and all that but he is a pedigree boxer. Give me a good domestic tear-up any-day.
He is like his drinking buddy the Fury, they wont win friends and influence anyone but they are world champs.
i watched it free on boxnation

In one way similar to McGregor/Mayweather in that Mayweather/GGG started off slow which allowed McNugget/Canelo to look good.... once FM/GGG turned on the pressure CM/CA couldn't handle it.
Not that I'm comparing the excellent Canelo to McNugget's boxing skills
Can anyone really see a rematch going any other way that what we've already seen..? Not sure I can.
