    first seiko arrived today

    something to have a mess with and learn from mechanically

    I would start with mechanicals rather than quartz. Quartz watches have tiny parts which can be a challenge.

    If you plan to take it apart your digital camera (on macro setting) is the best tool you've got........and if you don't have one I suggest you get one. I'd be lost without mine.

    I'd echo the above.

    I guess at least you didn't pick a chronograph quartz to learn on! I've got a bulova chrono in bits at the moment and it's madness. Trying to refit a bridge over multiple trains is not fun!


    I'd get something like an old sekonda manual wind. They are cheap but the movements are well made and simple to work on.

    thanks for the info, it apparently only needs a battery but i'd like to remove the movement complete and ultrasonic clean the case and strap pins
