Not sure whether I want it now
Don't just do something, sit there. - TNH
So I apologise for those,
but it really is a great idea for a charity fundraiser, and the watch has no memory of the horrors it has partaken in,
and big thanks to Steve
There are a few more photos, but I'm a little wary of posting them, so we'll call it a day.
Apologies for belated and out of sync.
Santa Bárbara castel, Alicante.
The next leg of the adventure has begun, courtesy of my new friend Brian.
Totally awesome !!!
Can't quite believe its the same watch I hauled across the Alps, now on its way somewhere else..
It has such adventures
Especially for Carlton-Browne we started the day by paying our respects to Bernardo O'Higgins, liberator of Chile.
Then we braved the infamous Bogotá traffic...
...to linger a while in a local institution to sample Colombia's finest.
Later we paid a call to the ambassadors (cameras are not permitted inside),
...before heading to a nearby watering hole,
...where the Bogotanos chéveres were already enjoying the Colombia vs Australia friendly.
An all too brief stop in one of my favourite South American capitals, stocking up on essential supplies.
We've received a lovely warm Pacific Island welcome here. I've made a quick strap switch to a comfortable and easily adjustable Eulit Palma Perlon.
What an amazing idea and execution.
Exploring the south side of the island today, pausing to take in the impressive view of Rano Kau caldera on our way to the ancient village and ceremonial centre of Orongo where the moai in the British Museum was pinched from.
And visited the astronomical observatories of Ahu Huri a Urenga and Ahu Akivi where some of the few inland moai are located. The fellow minding Ahu Huri has two pairs of hands which some observers believe indicate extra terrestrial involvement but most consider to be a cock up by the artist.
We had a very pleasant chat this evening with the most isolated diplomat on the planet. http://www.bbc.com/news/world-latin-america-27389860
Fantastic. I'm so jealous. Easter Island is on my bucket list
I think that this was a FANTASTIC idea on the part of the OP and I'm gutted the man himself has it booked out when the family and I are heading stateside for 3 weeks from 13/08/18, but I can't begrudge him that.
I've even started looking at short breaks with a view to having my turn!
You might also wish to consider the TakeTime project: http://forum.tz-uk.com/showthread.ph...keTime-Project
The first two today were taken for the Friday Thread (two because my camera's depth-of-field only permits either the watch or landscape to be in focus and I thought it worth seeing both). We have a view of Ahu Tahai from the balcony of our cabin. Ko Te Riku, the geezer with the eyes, is a mere two minute stroll away.
And here are a similar couple from the stunning moai platform at Ahu Tongariki before we adjourned to the beach for the afternoon.
If you want it, you can have it mate. I only booked the slot to keep the watch moving. Im going away today and had booked the watch this week also but Mr Curta wanted to take it to Easter Island so I was more than happy to give up the reservation. I’ll PM you now. ;)
P.S, great pics Mr. Curta.

Just responded to your PM and kind offer which I've accepted on the basis that you'll allow me to pay the standard rental fee (of course) and cover the lost revenue from your holiday, so that's £20 in the fundraiser if I'm not mistaken.
Sometimes I get the impression that TZ-UK had gone downhill but then I come across posts like this and I think...nahhh!
I think that we had better have some Easter Island Easter Day snaps.
Whatever your religious convictions may or may not be, the Sunday service here is an unmissable experience. The building features a mixture of Christian and traditional Rapa Nui symbolism whilst the singing, accompanying musicians and Sunday best are simply wonderful.
After church Laura and I went to find one of the few geocaches on the island. The nearest thing to an egg hunt for us today!
We visited Tahai again, just around the corner.
And then the museum before heading to a beachside cafe.
Wishing everybody a very Happy Easter.
Wearing the holiday watch whilst relaxing on Easter Sunday afternoon at what passes for a swimming pool in Hanga Roa, an enclosed sea inlet.
Followed by a couple of sundowners, and watching the local kids surfing under a spectacular sunset.
Well that was Rapa Nui, and a very special place it is too.
All that remains is to catch a cultural show...
Say cheerio to the fellow who seems to get everywhere in these parts...
And visit the post office to stamp the log book.
The watch will be heading off to SeanST150 later this week, for its next romantic adventure.
Cheers!
Matthew and family
Cheers, William. I've donated the Eulit Perlon 'Palma' strap to the package as like the NATO it is easy to remove and keep clean. It might give one or two future recipients the chance to try out a Perlon although it is only suitable up to about a 7" wrist.
The watch has now returned to the UK, again travelling with my helpful new friend Brian. He's really taken to the idea of the fundraising travelling watch and kindly sent a couple of photographs of his welcome home before he posted it off to the next recipient today.
This watch will surely see some exotic things and locations, but Easter Island on Easter will be hard to beat. Kudos to Matthew and of course to Steve for starting it all.
Looks an amazing holiday Mr Curta :-)
This idea and thread is fantastic!
I recommend listening to the first 3 minutes or so of this:

In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.
More pics to come when I get home. Here's a couple from my resort in St Lucia.

This watch is registering quite a large carbon footprint!
Anybody fancy it in the near future? I have it reserved but will gladly surrender it for another members adventure.
Well, after being on some excellent adventures already, the watch is back with me. It’s in excellent condition still, I thought it would be showing some more signs of use at this stage, every blemish telling a story.
Today, I’m off on my holidays with my family, and my lad was keen to wear it for its journey.
More pics to come over the coming fortnight, my flight has been called and my beer isn’t going to drink itself

Been back 2 weeks tomorrow so some pics of the watch’s recent excursion are long overdue!
Before setting off, the story and adventures behind the watch really piqued the imagination of my lad, Max, and he wore the watch numerous times throughout the holiday. I think he liked being part of it all.
The first part of our break was in the Maldives. Unfortunately, no pics of it in action on any snorkelling excursions, but here’s a couple from the pool;
Then, a long stopover in Dubai on the way home meant spending all day in the water park. Whilst spotting a fella sporting an Aquanaut in the park, this really is what the holiday watch is about, having something to wear in an environment where you wouldn’t want to risk something more valuable.
The watch is on its travels with another member now. I was pleasantly surprised at what great shape the watch is still in. It’s now raised over £200 for the fundraiser and will soon be in circulation for a year! Hopefully it still has much to offer.
