Heads up - Rolex & Tudor sale

Not sure if this is old news but upchurch jewellers in Colchester essex have a sale on (I think they have recently lost their rolex / tudor trade which is a shame )
Most of the popular models have sold already but I noticed a few heavily discounted tudors that may be of interest........

Shame the Tudor Heritage Chrono are both gone - at £1,810.00 I'd have been sorely tempted to replace mine.

The heritage chronos were a great buy, especially the blue. Suspect the Air-King may prove a decent investment in future years too but it's a gamble!

Mega-deals on the Heritage Chronos there. I suspect they only had one of each colour.

Is it wrong to be tempted by a Tudor Glamour?

Hmmmm, there has to be a fundamental design flaw in producing watch models that Rolex then feel the need to fit a hideous Cyclops to!

Plenty of other brands are able to produce watches with legible date displays. If you "need" a cyclops to see the date, then I would wager that you have bought the wrong watch. Perhaps the hideous cyclops is seen as a "trade mark" of a Rolex watch, but it still looks dammed awful.

Completely disagree, as do the hundreds of thousand buyers.

Yes, that is very true..... and I'm sure a lot of older people appreciate the cyclops. But there again there are plenty of people who buy a smallish car and then drive around with a hideous roof box permanently attached, which just proves that they should have bought a bigger vehicle. I don't hate Rolex... as they do make some desirable models that are sans the hideous cyclops.

I think the point you miss is many like the look for the cyclops. It's actual use is far from the attraction. Some folk think big cars are hideous. Personally I drive a sports car and have the staff follow behind with anything I can't fit in. They wear Christopher Ward though.

To be honest, I think my hatred of cyclops is due to seeing old people back in the 70's with those very thick reading glasses which had the lens profile of a really large cyclops.... I was just a kid and they made the persons eyes look huge and scary!

I've had a fair few sports cars.... but my last 4 or 5 vehicles have all been large 4x4's, Land Rovers, Toyotas, Jeep Grand Cherokees.... I recently considered downsizing and trading in my Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (4-door) and getting a smaller Jeep Renegade ..... that was until I took some empty gun bags/cases to the dealership and discovered that there was no way my guns would fit in such a small boot :-(

Completely agree, as do the hundreds of thousand buyers that bought a sub nd.

It's what stopped me from buying a sub date, so went for the non date, which I love as it's a classic in its own right. The SD is the perfect diver to me, I should of stretched to one when I bought the sub, but it was a little out of budget at the time, and probably even more so now.

I assume they mean RRP rather than cost price. Otherwise guess they'll wake up to a gazillion emails

I called them earlier during the week asking if the had any other ss sports models in the sale other than the watches sold and they told me that all watches in the sale are posted in the website so I'm guessing the no date is rrp. I'll be slightly peeved if not!

Hideos is subjective. You and millions of others liking it does not mean it is not hideous in his eyes. I agree with him, I think they look silly, and are indeed a design flaw in my opinion. Every date watch I have I can see the date just by looking at the watch, with a cyclops, I have to look at the watch straight on due to the distortion it creates. whatever floasts you boat, as they say.

Other than the date format, I really like that.
How do the fastriders compare to it do you know? I've never tried either on....
I'm quite interested in the grantour non chronograph date version and they have them too at a very good price it seems?

I know what you mean, but I am willing to compromise on that as the rest of the dial is so nice.
I'm not normally a fan of the extended date window, but a least they've tried to fit it into the dial design by making it span the 4 & 5 hour markers - rather than just 'floating' around the 3 o'clock marker.

I've no experience of the Fastrider - but wasn't keen on the green, red nor yellow models.

If the non Chrono Grantour is the same case design & as well finished as this one, you won't be disappointed.

I knew they had the Gmt for a while and was contemplating on getting it, and then this was posted, checked but seen that the gmt was reduced. Spoke to them this morning after seeing the Sub and they said it wasn't being reduced, and they said it's likely to sell without any issues( which I've no doubt). Had some breakfast and decided to buy it, deposit over the phone and off I went

I thought my post may help, I am glad someone got it from the forum. Also big up to the OP that started this thread. I would have taken it but I'm holding out for a Tudor sub - if someone has one sell it to me please.
