I'm pretty gutted to have missed out on being out there and helping, the Sqn sent 3 Pumas out at the weekend and by all accounts have been working non stop.

Thanks for the updates Mark, sounds like you're doing a great job there.
I believe that photo is of Cane Garden Bay, Tortola, in the British Virgin Isles, about 500 miles or so away from Providenciales, Turks & Caicos.

What's happening there Mark? More bad weather due?
Latest forecast is for a Cat 3 hurricane Thurs/Fri.
Just cancelled my flight today and back into hurricane prep mode.

Oh bollocks…. That's awful
I'm guessing that this will total a load of majorly damaged buildings…. Could be really bad?
I do hope you get lucky and it misses
Here's the latest from our weather forecast. I;m offshore at the moment running out of Mobile, Alabama so we're watching these with interest. I've been directly affected by typhoons in the Philippines, most notably Yolanda. It amazed me how govts can just sit back and do nothing / very little / obstruct relief efforts. Very little of any money raised for the victims of Yolanda actually made it to the effected areas and a lot of people suffered unnecessarily as a result. I hope things are better for the people out here on the islands. Stay safe Mark

This one does not need to be very strong to be devastating- there are a lot of already damaged houses and a lot of debris on the ground that has not been cleared away yet as there is just so much of it.
Not to mention someone stole your plywood from your office Mark. Hope you can board up again. Hopefully this one will fade quickly.
My landlord has 10 sheets for me , going to get them delivered today.
I have 4 people living with me at the moment but intend to fill the house on storm night to help people stay dry.
I've had some messages this afternoon from a good friend on Anguilla. Everyone is watching the progress of Maria very closely, preparing to hunker down in the solid structures and wondering what will remain afterwards.
The M at the end of the black line stands for Marks' house
Latest update 11am forecasts a direct hit Cat 4 hurricane on Friday- no words at this point
Really sorry for you Mark. And for all those around you. Two in a row was already a bit much, after a cat 5 but a third one???!

No Maria would be number 2 - Jose stayed away
I hope Maria goes Jose's way then.
Purple alert (highest one) in Martinique ☹️

Fingers crossed for you Mark,
hope Maria passes in the best way possible for you
Godspeed
First ever Cat 5 direct hit for Dominica.
160 mph- huge damage possible
That is really not very encouraging. Best of luck and stay safe.
In the Sotadic Zone, apparently.
Again, stay safe Mark!

Take good care mate.
Someone who lies about the little things will lie about the big things too.
Its tragic another hurricane is hitting all these countries in such short order. Fingers crossed it moves enough to not hit Turks again.
All prep done , windows boarded and we have hopefully done more than necessary and the storm will move further away after PR.
Seems I will have 15+ in the house for the storm but Fiola assures me they won't all need beds to sleep in ! Phew I didn't want to open the East wing of my mansion in September!
MrsO did a presentation to a local school in E14 about Irma and was given a load of relief supplies and £100 in cash from the headmaster.
There is a go fund me page for IGA - the local supermarket who are cooking food for all the official and more importantly unofficial shelters .
The only response from government is to say they will clamp down on any "shanty" town building - they would prefer people are homeless!
Track after emerging from PR is crucial.
Hi Mark, good to hear all is currently ok.
Whoever does not know how to hit the nail on the head should be asked not to hit it at all.

Disgusting. People have to do what they can to survive. It takes government a long time to provide any sort of meaningful help and relief, what do they expect people to do? It seems most countries that are affected by hurricanes / typhoons do very little in preparation work for their people.
Hope things are as good as they can be this time round Mark, I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
Keeping an eye on all this with interest as I will probably be popping out to Fla next month.
If it looks dodgy I'll go somewhere else.
"A coming brush with a Cat 4 or even 5 Maria for the Turks & Caicos can not be ruled out. "
Maria leaving PR now and nothing but warm water on the track between there and here - just hoping for a curved path away not a straight run .

Bugger.
Take care and good luck. Thinking of you
Fingers crossed it swerves east and remains around Cat3 as predicted, more of a heavy brushing of T&Cs than a direct hit.
All preparations complete - nothing more to do now except wait .
The ocean is churned up post Irma and Maria on the way
I was asked to go secure a penthouse condo today -
Front window blew in
So rear window blew out
Enough force to take out an internal door - complete with frame
Needs to start turning north now
Have been listening to the wind building all night but because Maria is only moving forward at 7mph we still have 8hrs to go until the closest point of the storm.
The satellite image pictures make the eye look closer than the track forecast.
Bored of this now but at least the power is still on.
My two nearest neighbors- both hoping we are not going to get too much rain !
Maria has left a legacy, Puerto Rico dam failure "imminent":
A failing dam is causing "extremely dangerous" flooding on a Puerto Rico river in the wake of Hurricane Maria, authorities say.
The National Weather Service (NWS) said the "imminent failure" of the Guajataca Dam is a "life-threatening situation".
More than 70,000 people live in the nearby towns of Isabela and Quebradillas.
