    Rolex 1803 Lug Holes

    Greetings all!

Have been lusting for a President bracelet. When an italian 18k bracelet cropped up (with watch head) for a smidgen over £5,000, it had my interest.

Only concern is that it has lug holes (seller said it seems factory drilled). Opinions needed!

    Thanks
    Dan

Only buy Rolex no Italian after job. These come up often on VRF.

With the caveat that I'm no expert,

It looks like a piece of tat on an aftermarket bracelet .

Hard to tell from those photos but the clasp seems to be in matching yellow gold. It shouldn't be. The folding parts should be in rose gold so a different shade.

Is it my eyes or is there any one set of drilled holes? I'm squinting but can't see the other pair.

There's only one set of holes for some odd reason

To my knowledge, some OEM solid gold bracelets were fitted with factory-Rolex clasps. Not too sure about this one.

I'm no expert re authenticity but I don't like the idea of only one set of drilled lugs from an aesthetic point of view (I like drilled lugs but it has to be both or none for me)

My 1803 doesn't have drilled lugs (at either end!)

The case has some rounded edges which suggests it's been polished several times. £5k for an 1803 with bracelet is suspiciously cheap.

I'd steer clear as it's been messed about with, but the 1803 is my favourite watch in my collection.

The hallmarks and engravings etc look all wrong... steer clear, unless you're getting it for smelting value or cheaper.

The more I look at the pics the more alarm bells start to ring. The front of the lugs should be brushed and the side of the watch polished. They look too similar to me. Also the case back writing doesn't look correct to me either which means it may not even be worth scrap value if it's not real 18k gold.

You could buy real 18k gold rolex in italy in early 90s....a lot of fakes, only worth as investment into gold.

For what it's worth, there is no way on Allah's clean earth that I would be going any where near that watch.
