    IWC Portugieser

Posty brought a nice box this morning! My new 7 day power reserve Portugieser arrived and I love it. Was going to go for a grey market Daytona Ceramic but came to my senses and bought this instead as I just can't see the Daytona inflated value bubble lasting long.

Anyone else on here taken the plunge with one of these? They do look nicely understated and classy..

Out of my price range but I do love those! It would be my choice for the money!

    Pictures please.

The 7 day portuguese was what really kick started my watch obsession in full gear. I remember my bosses bosses boss had one on during a meeting one day and I was constantly looking at it.

Then I saw the price tag :(

Not sure which model you went for (no pic) - but the IWC Portuguese models are incredibly tasteful

Always been a favourite of mine. A naturally 'classy' watch.

Always loved these but they wear really big so I would try one on before taking the leap.

I got myself one for my wedding watch this year. It's a lovely thing.

I also bought the genuine blue aligator leather strap for it. Mad money for a strap, but it had to be right for the big day.

I had one. Lovely thing, but sadly just too big for me. Almost bought another despite knowing that!

    That looks fantastic great purchase.

The Portuguese was the watch I loved when I first got into watches but I got put off by the ever increasing prices and that until the 7 day in house one came out was basically a standard chronograph inside and ended up going for a Dornbluth instead for the personal touch they put into their watches. Still cant help but look at the Portuguese though and think maybe I should.

The very high detail of the finish gets me. Even under close scrutiny it is just so nicely done.

Having an almost full width display back shows off the lovely movement really well and the dial with the raised blued numerals has me staring at it for ages at a time.

Please someone- post a picture of the back! Love this watch but it's way out of my price range so I'm never going to see the back for myself.

I've been thinking about getting one. Here's a review I found with several pics (clickable to reveal much larger versions!) of the rear :-

I love the blue Numerals and hands against the white dial. I also think that the date in the six o'clock position gives it a very symmetrical look. Sadly it does look a little too large for my taste. Stunning watch though.

Here's the back of my current model 5007

I think the larger medallion version above is the earlier 5001 which had a different in house movement which is apparently a little less reliable. Single barrel Vs double of the 5007 as well as some ceramic parts to eliminate wear.

Also notice on the 5001 that it has flat ended strap and straight spring bars. The 5007 nicely curved to the case.

That particular 5001 could probably do with a little clean up too!

Yes, saw that version at the time I was buying mine but still opted for the white background. It's personal preference but I prefer the white background plus I have black/blue faced watches and wanted something different. Looks nice though.

Blue dial wasn't an option when I got mine. Looks smart. I still prefer the white/silver I got though.

When I got mine I also tried the black dial which has chrome numbering. It looked nice, but just didn't pop like the blue on white/silver. Also quite hard to see the time!

I'd like to see this blue dialled one in person. Not that I can or would afford the dough to one on top of the one I already have.

Must have literally only just hit their stock if in August as that was the launch month according to the net.

Just like you I prefer ours to this one. The blue arabic numbers are special.

Yes kind of by accident I originally purchased the white dial one used from paskinner some years back then sold it to buy the laureas then purchased the rose gold. Recently I got the white dial one back as I took it back in part exchange in a non watch related sale. I don't sell watches these days just hoard.

    Haha good work!

I am not sure I would have enough occasion to keep 3 busy.

The craziest thing is when I am in the house I never wear a watch I kind of automatically take it off when I enter the house as habit. Most of my watches just sit in the safe but still enjoy owning them.
