The name Ludgate does not have the best of histories here.

A Richard Ludgate is mentioned in these articles. Has anyone come across him before? I can find no connection to the Thorpe business*, but members may wish to familiarise themselves with what is reported now, in any event :

Yes, the Mail is something of a marmite newspaper but on this sort of matter they usually seem reliable. It would be good, however, to have all the pieces of the jigsaw.

I read the title as 'Luggate' thinking it was the given name of this watch based scandal
