    Any Idea of the Breed?

Could well be welcoming this little lady into the household in a day or two. She was dumped in a neighbours garden and despite Facebook requests and a trip to the vets to see if she has been chipped, no one has come forward.
The girl whose garden it was dumped in has been told by the dog warden that if no one steps up to claim her within 4 weeks, she can keep her.
She already has a number of dogs though, so I told her I'll have a chat to the wife about taking her in (the kids are ecstatic about the idea) but truth is I have no idea what breed she could be.

Possible sight hound? Whippet, lurcher? Anyhow, she's absolutely gorgeous and that's what really matters. Whoever dumped her in a garden is scum for doing that. Well done to you for providing her with a loving home.

    Hmm, long legs... Great Dane?

I thought whippet at first but the ears aren't quite right (we've had five whippets in the family). Could be a lurcher?

But those legs... definitely a Great Dane

It kinda looks like a whippett/labrador/germanshepherd mixture but as with all pups, she looks absolutely lovely 😊

Doesn't matter what the breed is.
Has the makings of a good dog.
With a bit of luck it'll be a cross.

    Any Idea of the Breed?

Definitely a "Heinz 57 er " and I agree with vekslak on the potential lineage .
You should be free from the troubles of interbred pedigree show issues with that cutey , fingers crossed and well done to you and your family !

You've already told the kids so you'll be keeping it regardless. Enjoy your new dog.

God if it turned out like that I think the wife would file for divorce. She told me she doesn't mind having s dog but doesn't want one that will be too big

    Lurcher cross maybe?

She's had a bad start and needs to find someone to be kind to her. She deserves better than she's had so far. Pups are so helpless it breaks my heart.

Def not a vizsla no wrong colour muzzle but god idea. Ridge back possibly but the colour of the fur looks wrong. Probably a mix.

Given that it's been dumped in a garden I'll take a guess that it's a mongrel.

I don't think the breed matters. You're doing something special. Enjoy her for whatever she grows to be.

How could you dump a beautiful little thing like that! Some people don't deserve the love of a dog.

I'm guessing a cross breed but with looks like that who cares :)

I hope you'll all be very happy together!

*All* lurchers are crosses, and mine looked very much like than when young. He got about 20 feet taller (and his snout extended by about the same amount!) within a few months.

Mad as a box of frogs, but really lovely to own. Great with my cats and chickens, though he has reduced the squirrel population by, er, lots.

Yes, meant lurcher crossed again with something else like a Doberman for example though prob not in this case.
Nice he leaves your cats and chooks alone!

My mum has a Lurcher cross, albeit a Bearded one, if it's anything like our Dexy I wish you luck, generally Lurchers are all the same, they are all completely potty and have zero understanding of even the simplest commands

I was told by a ranger from Epping forest that Lurchers are one of only 2 non dangerous breeds that are not allowed off lead, as once they get a scent they are gone and they can follow it for miles and miles

Mine is always off the lead and has faultless recall - he's part Saluki, part Greyhound, part springs on legs. Best dog I've ever had

Love that black muzzle and those gorgeous eyes. Be surprised if she isn't a lurcher or whippet. What isn't in doubt is that she's a wee angel.

She's absolutely cute, and clearly the OP is one of life's good guys as he's made her one of the family.

I'm convinced that she's a lurcher, which is actually dead easy to establish, by answering these questions.

1 What's that disappearing over the horizon?

    2 Where's my dinner?

The one absolutely certain characteristic that proves above all things that you have a lurcher is how they sleep - if your lurcher is lying on its back on the sofa with its legs in the air, it's rarely dead and is more likely just fast asleep and really comfortable. Note that in this position they often fart to a quite atrocious level.

Pretty much all commands will be ignored, especially "drop". It's their squirrel, they've caught it, and they're going to keep it!
