5 years when I was a child - 1 hour a day practice from the age of 4 - I hated it because of that.

It did teach me something to do with my left hand when I was playing with my right though ;-)

This is a very easy piece to learn on - very Moonlight Sonata derivative.

If you want to learn , you will find it very rewarding.

Yes it is one of the songs from Braveheart. James Horner was a very talented musician/composer. He passed away 2-3 years ago in a plane accident.

I play piano although in a slightly different style to the videos you linked. Here is a link to a recent recording I made:

You can find other recordings of me playing the piano or tinkering with my organ on my YouTube channel. While I feel shallow admitting it - "likes" are appreciated!

Thank you - yes it is dating from 1907 and I had it rebuilt about 8 years ago.

heres one of my favourite piano prodigys , Neuburger playing bachs english suite no2 - some people may remember this from schindlers list ( one of the soldiers is playing it when they are 'cleaning ' the ghetto ) -quite a bit to memorise with no sheet music in front of you.

Excellent playing, the way your hands move along the octaves is great. And it reminds me the reason I gave up the piano, too much pain in the hands maintaining the octave length.

The James Horner (and the Bach piece too) rendition is well done, conveys the right amount of emotion. I find emotion much harder to get across compared to a string instrument, but when done well its magnificent.

Thanks Eddie - The organ console is essentially a set of midi controllers that are all plugged into a high performance PC which is hidden away in the wood work of one of the stop jambs. The PC runs the Haupwerk software which is a platform for loading different organ samples

    https://www.hauptwerk.com/

The samples are extremely high-resolution and contain many long samples (recorded from the real instrument) for every note of every stop of the instrument which are replayed in response to midi events (e.g. key presses). For a large organ like Salisbury Cathedral this take a great deal of memory to load - the PC has 32gb of ram and some samples require 64gb and 128gb where there are surround samples. The quality is extremely realistic and generally considered cutting edge. If I play at full volume you may be able to hear me across Sheffield!
