Is there a rule somewhere that says every newbie has to start a thread asking this same question when they reach 50 posts?

You need to be assertive with him, though. Make sure that he realises that you're a real asset to the Forum.

Most of the posts you said nice watch didn't even have a watch to comment on!

It's not being protective about SC. I think it's more about protective to the forum.

Are you serious.....do you really not understand why it is "protected"?

It's a 'target' and human nature will always ensure we persevere to get something 'hidden', but unsure how many new members endure the ribbing and simple just give up before they reach the post count. If the sellers get a wider market with fresh entrants, what is wrong with that? Unless buyers are in greater supply than sellers that is, then can understand protection of the space. Interesting to see the same members seem to comment on all these threads too.

OP you just missed 2k Omega Speedy BNIB and a 2.7k sub 116610LN (the ones you always really wanted). Talk about bad luck, you hesitated for too long man.

For me, the delay (hopefully) helps build an individual's personal investment in the community. Once invested, that individual will (again, hopefully) be less likely to screw over their fellow community members when money changes hands. I would rather make less money on a sale here, than brave the relatively anonymous environment at other forums.

Personally, I think the delay could be longer. It proves one's commitment to the community. Why are we here after all? Just to buy and sell, or to thoughtfully engage with other enthusiasts? I know why I'm here...

Fully understood, but 60 days is for access to buy. You send your money. For selling, there's an element of trust, but that's much longer and understably so.

The Mil-spec sub (including box and papers) for £250 was tempting. Soiled pants for £8.99 will go fast.

The mocking responses bother me more than the OP's goal directed posts. It's not as if he gets to sell anything, and sellers will make their own judgement for high value items.

The mocking responses reflect the nicer part of the forum ethos, which is a (mostly) gentle attitude of humour.

The nastier part of the ethos is the direct personal attack, something we haven't seen here. Yet.

PS: Yet another thread won outright by TT.

Yes and it would also pay to remind Eddy that his fawning and self appointed servants in the Bear Pit need a constant supply of newbies who speed post. It gives them the opportunity to discuss whether they are worthy to be here and are they naughty dual ID type bounders.

A serious response to the OP (it's why he asked after all!). Sales Corner just appeared on the forum index a couple of days after my sixty days, I believe I had already exceeded the required post number by that time. Maybe your repeat posts haven't helped, maybe you need to wait a few days (I have no idea if access is automatic or you are 'reviewed' before it is activated).
The sales corner is indeed a good place to buy accurately described, fairly priced watches, off people you can trust. I've bought a few now and all have been good. In fact one very righteous member messaged me to say the watch had started losing time before he sent it and did I want a refund. He'd timed it over several days before sending it (this is good service indeed) so I accepted the refund and we were both happy.
On a separate note, I know the sales corner isn't exclusively for watches (I've bought a belt buckle from there myself so slightly hypocritical here), but I can't help but think there are too many phones, camera's, bicycles, clothing, cars, etc on there. Earlier when I looked, only two of the first eight posts were watches! (this figure will obviously have changed by now).

I can't comment on the Bear Pit (as I'm banned from it) but Sales Corner does work as much on reputation as it does trust.

Usually I feel this sort of joshing is a bit unfair, but noticing this is both hilarious and makes this an entirely appropriate pointed conversation.

Oh gosh.... You just missed a MilSub going for the princely sum of £4,560. Bargain if you ask me.

But don't worry, they pop up regularly for less than that.

It sounds like there are some good deals to be had in SC. Hopefully there are some glashutte panomaticinverse available as well as a well priced Rolex submariner:-)
