    Pellets (droppings?) on decking

Dear George & Dragon - This place is such a font of knowledge so here goes.

We have the joy of various types of pheasant and goose dropping, but today we discovered something new. Have assumed that not seeds as we only have apple trees over our garden, so are trying work out of these might belong to some form of undiscovered wildlife - bird, four legged mammal, snake/slow worm, bat???

Seem very uniform (c.7mm long) and flaky, whereas most stool/pellet images we can find on internet for possible suspects have rounded ends (for obvious reasons).

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks in advance.

Owl pellets? Could you dissect one or put in water?

These are silk moth caterpillar droppings, looks like you've got a large caterpillar.

Whole chunks of my life come under the heading "it seemed like a good idea at the time".

Don't know about aliens, but I know that an MX5 leaves a pool of black sticky stuff and/or gaseous substance.

I was wondering about this as we have one, so was hoping these were the remains of slugs. See below though as I think we have a winner. Can't find any images of slow worm poop online, and lizards tend to be more liquidy.

Thanks for suggestion. No bones etc, very powdery.

I think we have a winner - looks to be bang on. No idea if these are freshish of if the culprit has flown. Will keep any eye out. Many thanks Eddie.

I was about to change it, but modern engleesh seems to allow for this nowadays

A slow worm I caught as a child shat on me (presumably in revenge). Definitely liquid.

I agree but I also know that a lot of people would disagree with us :-)
