Lampix turns any surface into a smart surface

This looks like science fiction, it's amazing(if it works).

Must admit that does look like it could have lots of uses.

    Blooming heck,

    Impressive if it works.

There is one big problem with this.
Its essentially a small video projector.

That means it only works in subdued lit environments.

The alternative would be to use a top down monitor surface , which is then little different to smart glass approaches which have been around for years.

I don't see how this is better than walking around with a tablet or smart phone.

How does having to congregate around a lamp improve productivity?

Big hairy globes to it I say.

I was at a conference earlier this year where a guy was demoing something very similar, but their version was built into light bulbs that work from the ceiling. The 'bulbs' also contained microphones and speakers, so you would have this set up throughout your house with no congregation necessary.

It'll be interesting to see how I'll be able to sit on the train with my big lamp if I want to do some work.
Can you imagine the conversation with the security staff at the airport when you need to take a lamp in hand luggage?
    Not exactly portable is it.......

I think you've missed the point, it does not replace your existing devices, it augments them. It provides an alternative way to work with documents and collaboration no more. (At the present)

Gimmicky unwieldy solution looking for a problem IMO.
