Thread: Any love for the milgauss

  1. #51
I have to say I much prefer the Omega railmaster (do they still make those?) I have nothing against the Rolex though, although not a huge fan of the seconds hand.

The Railmaster has been re-released I think and a new anniversary model as well!

With regards the Milgauss, it is the second hand that really makes it for me - a little different from the usual

The second hand looks ridiculous. It's almost as bad as the Seamaster Commander! Well, not really that bad. Nothing else is that bad!

I think there's an opportunity for a Rolex/Omega collaboration here, putting the Milgauss second hand on the Commander. It certainly would go well with the design basis.

Really like them, more interesting that the normal Rolex range. As with all Rolex they are just too small for me!

I do really like the look of them (tried one on last time in AD) but just can't place it in my lot. Doesn't seem to have enough 'identity' for me. Bit like an Explorer 1.

Funny because the Explorer 1 is my favorite model, but I think I like it because it flies under the radar more than most of the Rolex models.

Saw a guy in a pub in Brighton today wearing a black dial GV, looks lovely in person. Just a shame there's no date

I think they're good value. Would probably agree with lewwyt in that with a date it would be a seller

I'm in that camp. I love the looks otherwise and love the concept, but I can't get past the novelty lightning hand.

The black GV is, for me, the best men's watch offered by Rolex; and the one that will become a classic. The fact it is unpopular now tells you nothing about long term popularity. It is the only model with some humour and visual flair. Most Rolex designs are just a bit glum. Well made, but no real design flair.
That's how I see it anyway. I still like and buy Rolex.

I really wanted to buy a Rolex and tried on an Explorer 1 several times but something didn't gel with me. Same with the Explorer 2 and Date Just. I'm also slightly put off the image of the brand by all the blingy diamond encrusted tat they churn out. To me, it has cheapened their image not enhanced it. I think the second hand on this watch does the same to a lesser extent.

I actually that the Milgauss doesn't have a date window with a magnifier plastered over it. Ditto for the OP 36 & 39.

The Vintage models were stunning. Maybe one for Basal 2018?
