Hi,

Thought I'd try this one here since it didn't get anywhere in Watch Talk.

I'm interested to hear what the technological pros and cons are between these two movements. So I guess this thread is aimed at our watchmaker members who have worked on both. So we are seeking to understand the design, performance and reliability differences. The reason I'm asking is because the 9015 is fitted to a number of micro-brand watches which happen to be in my price range, which is up to about £300.

One difference which comes to mind is that the ETA has bi-directional auto winding where the Miyota does not. What are the pros and cons of this? Does it matter in reality? I'm sure Miyota are perfectly capable of building bi-directional winding, but they didn't. Is there some advantage? Is there a reason why they didn't?

Are there other technical differences?
