I have the G10 date version from about 8 years ago with acrylic window.

I tested the material at work a while back I'm sure it was 316SS. I tested it via a Bruker PMI X-Ray Reference gun.

Just fitted a new Timefactors leather strap on it 5 minutes ago (these straps are excellent)...

Thank you, but with respect, wrong watch.

The only difference between the Navigator and the standard G10 is the date window
Both have the same stainless steel case.

Don't chuck those Chicago screws out, they're a bugger to source for spares.

    G10 Case Material

DEF STAN 66-4(Part 4)/Issue 4 dated 29 Feb 1980 covers the basic G10 watch. The case material is specified as Corrosion Resistant Steel 303S41 to BS:970.
This is a slightly lower grade than 316L.

DEF STAN 66-4(Part 1)/Issue 3 dated 19 Dec 1973 covers the divers watches and the case material is specified as corrosion resisting non-magnetic steel. Most
manufacturers use 316L I believe for increased corrosion protection.

Yeah, the only difference between the G10 and the navigator is the dial. That looks really nice on a leather strap by the way! I must get another one and try that out for myself.
